A really good friend gave me a bottle of Asti Spumante for my b-day, and then Christmas...and this continued. I have no idea where she got the idea that I even remotely like that crap!

My worst birthday was 21 in 1970, no presents at all, no card, no nothing. And I had long thought 21 would be a big deal: attaining full legal status & adulthood, able to vote, and drink alcohol in all States (I already could at 18 in some States, and in the Army).

But I was assigned to Ft. Benning, Georgia, still enlisted and living in a barracks. No one there knew it was my birthday, it came and went, and I didn't even speak with my parents, because they were on some vacation. And I'd have had to walk to a phone booth to call them, no phone in the barracks, no way for them to reach me anyway nor me them, wasn't sure where they were at that moment.

I suppose what hurt most was my parents not even sending me a birthday card, despite having my mailing address. Funny that the one birthday I had always imagined would be my most important, 21 for the reasons I stated, became the one I hated the most.

This is a hilarious thread! Worst birthday gift I ever heard of was the WeedWhacker my Brother-in-Law gave his wife. Most confusing card was the birthday card my Partner got from his mother. It was one of those cards for African-Americans. MOM????

HndsmKansan saidI haven't had too many crappy gifts, but I think probably receiving a relatively inexpensive cologne called "Stetson" probably ranks.

I like western clothes, western, belt, buckle, boots (during winter), etc....
somehow during my college days, a cheap cologne sold in those stores called "Stetson" became a part of the mix. My Dad got it for me, friends did... one year I received 4 bottles of Stetson, including a gift set of two.

Then I discovered decent cologne and converted, even though it might be $60. or $70.00 a bottle.

One of my high school friends still gets me "Stetson", even though I told her years ago, I don't wear or want it. For Christmas, 2010, there it was again.
    I just trashed it.

Chris, that's hysterical. Oh, he likes cowboy clothes, let's get him a bottle of Stetson! That's about as smart as trying to give me a bottle of Old Spice!
My grandpa had that when I was a kid and even I knew it stunk to high heaven!

LOL, Yep, I still have a couple of bottles of "Stetson" and a few other scents that I got for various xmas/bday gifts. Since I never wear any of that stuff, I'm never sure whether it's a subtle hint or just another clueless gift.

When my parents did give me adult birthday presents they were invariably clothing items I couldn't possibly wear. Like shirts that belonged in a retirement home, or the world's worst ties, that matched nothing I had.

And when my parents came to visit me I had to put the damn stuff on before they arrived, so they'd think I actually wore that crap. Otherwise I'd be asked: "Where's that lovely shirt we bought you?" They had photographic memories for every stinking stitch of clothing they ever gave me.

I would have preferred to give that garbage away to charity, instead of keeping it on hand and wasting closet space. I'd love to have answered them: "Oh, that piece of shit? I gave it to the dog as a chew toy."

If any of you guys ever become parents, NEVER give your adult children clothing as birthday gifts. NOT EVER!!! icon_razz.gif

my friends at school (college) got me this last year because I love to paint and love art...

    61OPUTUpe0L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I used it a couple times to humor them but really the best part about it is the annoying high pitched whine it makes. because I insist on using it with them as group activity and they hate the sound. oops icon_smile.gif

then this year I got this:

    gifts-7.jpg

which they talked about weeks ahead of time, building it up as the most interesting gift they've ever thought of... I honestly didn't even know what to say. still haven't opened it.

A 1979 Chevy Camaro with a fresh paint job and refurbished interior....and no engine! Very nice gift from my uncle and I loved the hell out of it, but what was a kid with no license or job going to do with it hah...and after he died his daughter took it back since she procured all his belongings legally. Haven't seen her since his death..what a bitch.

For my twelfth b-day, I asked my aunts and uncles to buy me some spiderman figurines, or a playset of some type. All I got were Spiderman thermal underoos.

I giant dildo the width of a baseball bat. I'm sure it was just a joke, but it's pretty much useless under my bed.
