Krankheit saidWe had air raid drills in school because somebody thought that hiding under our desks would save our lives if the Russians attacked with nuclear weapons.

Have to love our government icon_smile.gif Teach our children to dislike communism using scare tactics therefore we will never have a population with them uprising. It is SO smart.

...we had these cool, inexpensive gadgets called View-Masters which allowed you to peer into magical 3-D landscapes that were like still life designed by Rankin-Bass.

However, when I found a cache of V-M discs from my childhood and tried to buy a cheap viewer at a toy store, I was met with a bemused reply of "View Mas-ter?" from the clerk.

LOL Our air raid shelter was supposed to be inside the hydroelectric dam. Now... what object within a hundred miles would actually be the target of a nuclear bomb... hmm...

High tops and LA Gear were all the rage.

Lunch boxes were made of metal and included a thermos.

We said the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school.

    $1?

The first tank of gas I bought was 19 cents a gallon.
    My first new car, a 1977 Chevette - $2800.
    My first apartment, 1976 - $55 a month

I could probably find a well used Corolla for $2800. My first car was $15k new and that was in 2004. I don't think you can even get something new at that price anymore. And how I would like to find an apartment for under $500 now.

The cosmos was a microscopic particle. Then God had an arm wrestling match with his college roommate, Chuggs. Chuggs was beating God, so God let one rip, and waved it over to Chuggs. IT smelled bad enough to distract him, and God won the arm wrestling match.

Then God felt another one coming on, so he asked Chuggs for his lighter, and lit his fart. The result of this is what we know as the Big Bang, which created our universe as we know it.

Phones were attached to the wall with a cord and were rented from the phone company.

Kids didn't wear helmets to ride their bikes or sit in car seats.

    People dressed up to fly.
