To avoid high jacking another thread, I just figured I'd start a new one. An image was posted about the sources of American oil and the politics as related to human rights/gay rights in those countries. This is that image:

There was a response to that post that said, "we get most of ours from Canada." Who said it isn't relevant, and who said it isn't my point. I try to research information before I say something, but sometimes I just get foot in mouth disease and start rambling.

So I went to Google (doesn't everybody?). I found an article on "How Stuff Works.

That article stated, "Twenty-one percent of the oil imported to the United States in June of 2009 came from Canada, making Canada the largest single-country source of foreign oil for the United States." (emphasis mine)

The article continued, "Despite Canada (which is stable and friendly to American interests) being the largest foreign source of oil and gas for the United States, Ottawa still doesn't produce the majority of oil America imports. That distinction belongs to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC. The 11 OPEC member nations span the globe and include oil-rich nations like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. In June of 2009, OPEC supplied 40 percent of the oil that was imported to the United States [source: Energy Information Administration]."

Interesting, huh? Please don't hate me. I get enough rejection from the world I have to interact with. If you disagree, or don't like what I've said, I would appreciate it if you would PLEASE use rational discourse to discuss it.

Canada's oil is DIRTY and rotten for the environment. For the greater good, choose Saudi Arabia.
