I never talk to myself, but I talk to my dogs like their people all the time. One of my dogs is insanely smart so I have this weird feeling that she actually understands what I'm saying, it's creepy

Besides "thinking out loud" that I mentioned above, with my pets I always avoided lengthy conversations. I tried to limit communication to 1-word commands.

Instead of "Hey Andy, it's time to eat, I've got something nice you're gonna like, I made it just for you..." etc, I would just say: "Andy! Eat!" I trained my dogs that way, and it even worked quite well on cats. Maybe even more so on the cats, because dogs seem smarter at recognizing the significant words in lengthy sentences. Whereas cats lose interest after the first 4 words, a lot like gay men.

I talk to my dog as if she were a person all the time. She helps me practice my Spanish. Her Spanish vocabulay is larger than mine!

I never talk to myself out loud - just in my head. Sometimes the voices answer back.

I talk to my dog, my plants, my fish and myself. I'm well-adjusted and sane. This is pretty normal behavior.

I don't speak to other humans. So I talk to myself. I'd forget how if I didn't do.

I had a dream about talking to doggies last night. So cute and cuddly. I will make an ass of myself if there are animals in the room.

Years of being introversive as a child? That was me too... didn't learn to talk to people until Junior year of high school.

Everyone talks to themselves in their head. He probably thinks talking out loud is weird. Everyone also talks to their dog. Isn't that communication?

My two cats come running when I say their names.

But, only if they're not freaked out and hiding.

    Weird, huh?

I talk to my dogs all the time. In baby talk. They love me and I'm their daddy. I have bacon.

I talk to my beautiful baby girl Sophie all the time. I love her soooo much, and I don't care if she can understand me or not. She loves me and I love her, so there!

Admittedly, I am guilty of talking to myself. But let me clarify: it's not dialogue with any imagined voices in the manner of someone undergoing psychosis. Rather, it's like "rehearsal" to prepare for when I potentially might speak to people later. Or I'm simply thinking out loud potential conversations. It might maybe go back to my "autistic tendencies". For purposes of thought, it might help that I speak aloud to ease the thinking process. Or it could be a less obvious manifestation of stereotypy. In any case, I know it comes across others as being very unusual and unsettling even, and I do feel acutely humiliated when I'm aware someone notices, so I try very hard to contain myself and keep quiet in public. There's something...refreshing...about it though. It feels good to talk aloud. It feels good to sing too, but nobody stigmatizes singing (assuming you sing well).

I talk to my cat all the time. About half the time it's, "Hey. Stop. Quit biting me."

I talk to myself a lot at times.. as if i were a soaop character. I do not like pets so i do not talk to pets.. but i see nothing completely wrong with talking to pets.. the problem would be if you start to feel as if they are communicating to you in ways that are abnormal or make decisions based on what you cat "says"...

I will be in the shower and a thought will burst in my head and i'll say "No that it's stupid... it's better done _____" or i'll be cooking and will say to myself "Fuck that was too much vinegar .. you dumbass .. now it's not edible. ... *sigh* back to the drawing board."

Now if that is considered cazy then i am indeed crazy.

If talking to yourself/pets is the criteria to get you sent to a mental asylum, then I guess I'm overdue.
