She was supposed to play in Ireland a few months ago, but it was canceled the day before for some strange reason. I never found out why.

Cooking, especially for others. Whether preparing a feast for company or baking something special as a gift, hours slip by swiftly when I have plenty going on at once in the kitchen. Peeling and chopping veggies is a most 'zen' activity.

The sound of children playing and laughing; good music at midnight; seeing the look on a man's face as he "lets go" sexually.

OMG, how did I forget Bach,,, and Mozart!
Pure sunshine on a [fiddle] stick.
Spotting bright yellow objects on a grey and rainy day.

Listening to A Prairie Home Companion on a Sunday evening almost makes me happy. Garrison Keillor makes me smile.

Also, sitting down in a great indie coffee shop with a nice big cup of coffee and a good book is just about the most relaxing thing in the world.

That should have been "almost always," instead of "almost."

What makes mer happy is simply being wanted, needed or both. When i am working I am happy and when I am cuddling with my fiance I am happy. When i make him breakfast in the morning and he kisses me and compliments my food I am especially happy. Sexual fun can also make me happy but I could easily use my hand to satisfy that urge when my man is not around. Also when I helped keep marriage off of the ballot in massachussetts by speaking at my community college assembly attended by some of our reps and senators i was especially happy!
...VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON!!! Keep me happy.

Hot bottoms that LOVE sucking dick.

....sorry, I was so overwhelmed by the cheesy sappiness of the beginning of this thread, I felt like I should say something especially crass just to balance things out a little bit. <smirk>

When I am backpacking in some unknown places. With some money in my pocket, a lonely planet book in my backpack, my survivor instinct come alive. Sometime I feel like Aladdin in the Tales of 1001 night. Meeting all this adventure, strange customs, lost cities, beautiful princess (my case prince), exotic food etc. That when I am happiest.

    Nice topic.

Lots of random little things, in no particular order...

    The froth of a capuccino
    An 8000rpm upshift
The sugar crystals that form on dried Calimyrna figs
A specific type of kissing that I call "spark jumping"
    Regina cookies
    Awesome music
    Communicating without words
Realizing that I set the alarm clock only by mistake, and that it's actually a Saturday
    Mom's ravioli
The smell of a field at night
    Dogs
    Fun underwear
    Good valpolicella
    Unsolicited signs of affection

Playing music and/or singing with others
Making a meal with other people and having a meal together
Waking up to realize that I feel completely rested
Realizing that I don't have to do anything right now and can relax

As opposed to joyful, I presume. In direct juxtaposition to my professed status as a cranky old fart, here are but a few of my secrets to unrelenting happiness:

    Gerard Butler in 300.

Farting after holding it in all day at work.

    Playing Praeludium on the piano.

    Losing weight without trying.

    Love notes from my man.

People who remember my birthday without reminders.

A dinner with my man in a really good restaurant.

    Thirty year old Port wine.

    Joking around with my dad.

Falling out off an after-after bar at nine in the morning in Spain.

Suddenly understanding what my own writing is about.

Walking into my office on a bright sunny morning.

The smell of a new book.

    Johnny Cash.

Feeling Dave next to me in bed at night.
Our 1/2 hour morning coffee in bed.
    When he nuzzles my hair...

The sweaty, exhausted, pumped feeling of a GREAT workout...

The "petit mort" after great sex...

An entire weekend with absolutely no obligations.

    Vacation without a blackberry.

    A clean house.

That dull ache you get after a good workout.

    The smell of Downey.

The first martini after a long day.
