Just what exactly is Belgium other than a land full of Dutch, French, and a few Germans who can't stand each other?

We old folks can use computers too. They're good for finding crochet patterns and stalking our younger relatives on Facebook by posting a continual stream of embarrassing stuff on their walls.

Now get outta my damn yard!

No, I got it from "Corner Gas." Wanda used to say it all the time. Why? What's it to you?

Actually, I find this thread to be tasteless and insulting as a permanent resident in the US.

I have met far more rude and intolerable Americans abroad than I have met rude foreigners here. Not to mention rude natives. You met a rude man---why make a thread about foreigners?

And frankly, if you can't argue against the manifestly silly charge that American art is terrible shame shame on you!

The Belgian should not have been rude... but... in continuation of the above poster's comment...

... it may have been the result of the combination of having experienced too many rude Americans in his home country along with the common dislike of Americans, U.S. policies and the country's interference abroad.

Mostly, perhaps, it is Americans' constant spewing that they and their country is the best... and that lightly-veiled threat that the rest of the world should bow to its will or face the consequences.

America has been "bad", we torture people, have a history of starting wars for corporate advantage. (Dole in Central America, etc... etc... through the past 100 years, ad nauseum)

I'm not defending the guy's rudeness.. but rather pointing out that it may have simply been his second nature... a nature that America's and Americans' actions have consistently reinforced.

Uhm ... are you referring to Americans or American owned companies ... and not to defend big American corporations, but every other global company is just as bad as the country's government they are working allows ... why the hell blame Americans for what their own governments allow them to be ... it's not the American governments duty to police the world .. that is the job of the UN

I was referring to the U.S. government backing rebels to overthrow governments on the behalf and at the request of corporations. (Banana revolutions in Central American on behalf of American fruit companies... the takeover of Hawaii and removal of their Queen. Iraq on behalf of oil companies, drillers and equipment suppliers. Etc. Those are only a few limited examples.
