Great analogy. Hating apple for the sake of hating apple is the sport du jour. it's not rational though.

those phablets keep getting bigger... almost embarrassing and cringe-inducing to see someone using one and trying to be serious about it. hey Samsung, the '90s called... they want their stylus back.

The largest screen size for today's smartphones is around 5.5", and those phones happen to be some of the best sellers on the market. Apple just increased iPhone 5's screen by .5" because .... consumers don't want bigger screens? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. icon_confused.gif

Apple haters are gonna hate just for the sake of hating Apple? Android and Windows phones sales are through the roof, and it's not because so many models are less expensive than iPhones. Even with iPhone 4s now available for free with contracts, Apple just can't seem to gain the market share it so desperately wants, which means there are more consumers who would prefer to have more than what Apple can provide. Apple's even beginning to see losses in its tablet category share, so there are obviously more consumers in the world who don't like iOS than there are fans of the limited operating system.

It all boils down to consumer choice and customization. Apple puts its consumers in a box. I prefer freedom.

Wow what a nice collection of made up shit and terrible arguments.

Let's try to parse it out:

    1. "Android and Windows phones sales are through the roof."

Windows phone sales aren't going through anything. They hardly rank and Windows Mobile still outsells Windows Phone which is just kinda sad. Android is the monster in the market and continues to outpace everyone by a mile (or several) and Apple continues to hold steady in a distant second. That said Apple still sees double digit sales increases year of year for its products so while not gaining market share they are increasing sales.

2 "Even with iPhone 4s now available for free with contracts, Apple just can't seem to gain the market share it so desperately wants."

Holy shit, this might be my favorite of you claims. The iPhone 4s has been free with contract for a whopping 5 days and you already have marketshare data that shows this had no impact? Please do share I would be keen to see it. Ohh wait, there isn't any this was intentional deceptive and just flat out dishonest.

    3. "Which means there are more consumers who would prefer to have more than what Apple can provide."

Wait, two can play this game. More people by non-smartphones than buy smartphones.
I guess that means most people feel regular phones provide them more than what smartphones do.

    4. "Apple's even beginning to see losses in its tablet category share."

Q2 2012 saw a year of year increase in market share for Apple in the tablet space. They are currently at 69.9%. The highest they had been in the past was 70%. So, they actually aren't seeing a lose there at all.

Your argument that you aren't down on Apple for the sake of it loses credibility when you immediately start making things up. There are legitimate short comings with the iPhone and iOS (and Android phones and Windows Phones and blackberry phones) why not just discuss those and stay in reality?

smartmoney saidI pick stupid, because you would have to be a complete moron to buy a new one at this point. Let the lemmings be the test sheep to work out the bugs and if you need a new phone, wait a few months.
Otherwise, why replace what is working? Are you really that shallow that you need to buy the latest product Apple tells you to purchase just because they tell you to do it?

Not really. This approach keeps people constantly waiting for the next improvement, which in technology, there is ALWAYS an improvement. I think if you want to upgrade your phone because you have an old phone (like me - 3GS), or you're bored with your phone and want to try out the 5 or the S3, go for it. If your phone works fine and you want to wait for the 5s a year + from now, do that. What makes people stupid is in caring what others think about their phone choice.

Hmm... Android has SlideIT/Swype/Swiftkey and I can refund any app I buy within 24h, no fuss. I'll stick with Android.
Don't think I'll upgrade until I can get a Ubuntu for Android phone though.

disclaimer: i'm not an apple Zombie, I'm loyal to guys, not phone mfgr's

but my 4s is black, most of my past phones have been black too, though when the original razr came out i had one in stainless. never had a white phone. i don't anticipate getting a 5 immediately unless my current phone gets tossed out of my pocket on the freeway.

I think apple is feeling the loss of Jobs, for apple to aggressively pursue a legal case against samsung smells like desperation to me. Yeah apple has it's copycats, but winners who are setting the pace for mobile R&D don't worry about the competition like that. I think in 10 yrs we're going to say "u know that company that made the iphone" ok, maybe it will take more like 20 when all the hardcore cult members will be in a nursing home with alzheimers.

    I ordered mine in white.

I would have waited a little while, to make sure they worked out the kinks.... but my phone is really on its last leg and I need a new one asap.

All my previous iPhones have been black, so I opted for something different this time around. I'm just excited to have a new phone period. This thing has got to go. Really after 1.5 years a phone seems to decline.... it's been 2.5 now....

I'm thinking either red or white. But if there is ever a special edition Cyan color, I'd be all over that.

I like the different colors. I get the "take me serious" part when in business meetings and the "professional look". But I've been working long enough to where my peers and management respect me based on my performance, and not by the color of my phone. The color does grab their attention and they ask what kind of phone I have (cyan Lumia 900), then I change the subject (back on topic) by telling them we're ahead of schedule, or on how I solved a that their best developers could not solve (I'm a SW consultant). When it comes down to it, know body really cares what color my phone is but me.

Samsung is where it's at. Android rocks; there are no stupid "we don't think you need flash" decisions made by the mother company choosing how you'll use your phone; it's designed to make it difficult for even the carrier to reduce the features to suit them....and the experience I've had with my Nexus is beyond satisfactory. I love, love, love them.

You guys can of course buy whatever shit you want to....but even when you buy an Apple, you're buying Samsung (because they make the chips.)

As for "copyright infringement", I'm not convinced the dust has settled on that. Frankly, the whole industry is "borrowing" ideas from each other (Apple's claim that "it has rounded corners --we designed that!" is lame-o.) Apple has certainly stolen as many ideas from others as anyone has stolen from them....this whole situation could easily blow up in Apple's face as other sets of lawyers realize "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" and Apple is a nice, big, rich target to go after.

I just can't bring myself to support Apple....the company that I fell in love with 30 years ago (innovative, open, etc) is not the Apple of today....they've become all the things they said they hated about Microsoft. (Of course, at least Bill is giving away all his money....Jobs donated what? --some computers to schools? icon_rolleyes.gif Bill will help eradicate polio...Jobs died being the greedy little whore he always said he wasn't --good riddance to bad rubbish, imo.)

While I do agree that companies steal and copy from each other, Samsung did get caught red handed (see link below). As much as I would have loved to support Samsung, it's kinda hard for me to after seeing those documents. But let's not worry ourselves with the facts. Death to Apple!!!

The iPhones have started shipping. For those of you who are totally obsessed and only see Preparing to Ship in your order status, you might be able to get your tracking information before Apple provides your tracking number. Following thread also has some funny spoofs of threads made by some very obsessed folks.

Just providing this for those of you totally obsessed. I don't pay too much attention myself. When it comes, it comes. (My iPhone arrived in Korea today.)
