a bear isnt always a far hairy guy. it also is like a big guy with hair who could be stocky, football player build, muscular etc. many ranges of bears. you also got cubs who are smaller hairy guys who are skinnier but still got meat on them.

Not sure otters belong on the list. Otters are usually in good shape though not quite as skinny or lanky as twinks. They just have more body hair.

The original idea behind the bear community was for bigger, hairy guys to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Unfortunately now it's just another clique-y pretentious holier-than-thou sausagefest like the rest of the gay community.

There's so much variance in the bear community. I think the term "bear" is more of an attitude. I know overweight guys who don't identify as bears and are annoyed when guys typecast them as so. So the question, when is a bear a bear or just an overweight guy basically depends on said man.

    LOL WHAT THE FUCK?!

chgobuzz1 saidrecently met a bear type guy on manhunt who i have had 3 dates with. he doesnt seem to workout so his lower body fat is his most prominent feature which at times I find sexy and then dont. When is a bear a bear and when is he just a fatter guy, out of shape ? ALso he is bald but doesnt shave off the fringe on the sides, making him look both older and kind of out of step with the times. Am I being too picky ?

If you're attracted to him, who cares about the ridiculous gay animal kingdom classification?

wait, what? on the 18th you couldn't find one to save your life, and two days later you're in a full blown relationship with one?

    talk about 0-60

hmm..maybe that waiting period to buy a handgun is overrated too.

    *headscratch*

'bear' implies 'fat' and usually hairy.

If he is skinny and hairy then 'otter'

Both are considered to be part of the bear community
