Well guys I heard from him 3 days later. He confessed his love and how he simply got scared, recognized how selfish it was and promised not to do it again. However, a few days ago he flakes again and stopped communicating. Of course, that was it for me. First time shame on you, 2nd time shame on me. Oddly enough though, I ran across someone a day after he flakes that turned out to be a friend of his and I'm informed that this is his typical behavior, even with his friends. When things gets tough or stressful he shuts down and stops communicating. And on top of that I'm the oldest person he has dated as he typically dates guys much younger (in their early to mid 20s), presumably because they may tolerate the flakiness or not require anything from him emotionally as someone someone more mature would. He is 34. The End!

Must agree. Cut your loses and move on, man. His emotional pattern seems infuriating. Find yourself that's more on the ball about communication. That's what I would do.
