i don't think I'll ever look like this.

It may not be your stronger suit, but you are aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

Paleo diet will do it with moderat exercise. Cardio is not the best way to go.

    ^^^ that's the truth!

I have it. It's actually a muscle like abs, so two thing will pop it out

    1)Diet and being super lean
    2) Exercise that muscle, it requires turning motion, so windshield wipers and weighted side crunches, best i found using a back extension chair, get on the side and do side crunch ups with a turning move (crunch up and turn our head to look the ceiling)

Most ppl say it's 1 or 2, but combine them will be much more effective. Same for abs, u can be super lean and hope them pop out or make them big and be ok lean.

#1...because diet will get you there, but being super lean will set it in stone...so to speak.

camfer saidIt's interesting to see the cultural shift in vanity muscles over the years. Back in the 1990s no one wanted big obliques. The fear was that it would make your waist look bigger. The vanity muscles of the 1990s were pectorals. Now in the 2010s it seems that the current vanity muscles are the obliques. Probably originates from the fashion of sagging pants and exposed torsos.

Check out this underwear model guy. He's got the obliques but no chest, arms, or legs. It's disproportionate. Some find it attractive. I prefer different proportions, but make your body into what you want. Just put some thought into proportion, please.

If you want to hit obliques in compound exercises to bring it all together instead of isolations, do heavy squats and deadlifts. Then they're worked in concert with a host of other muscles.

Wait.... That is no chest, arms, or legs? I beg to differ. Yes disproportionate, but he has several nice areas.

Dunno... my fat just piles up on top of them, so they look the same whether I diet or not. But on the other hand, I don't wear my pants down below my pubes icon_rolleyes.gif

    Cable work.

Also, DON'T do situps. They make the midsection look "fat".

I don't think that's disproportionate. He's leaning against one side, making his muscle compress, which shows the "bulging" of his hip muscle.

For sure! My profile picture was taken after doing paleo for 2 months. I lost 10 pounds and 4% body fat. Started Ironman training this week, so hopefully that and paleo will make them start to pop more.
