A Middle Finger to the People Who Have Turned the RJ Forums into a Mud-slinging Arena

I've got nothing wrong with discussions (even heated ones) about salient political and social issues, but thanks to the zealous assholes from both sides of the political spectrum who have all but commandeered the forums with their garbage, now it's just another online screaming match in which there is barely any semblance of sane and sound discourse.

I really used to like the forums because they provided a space for interchange among the members of this community about a variety of topics... particularly the ones about gay men's fitness (which is what this site was supposed to be about). I think it's been over a month now since I have seen one thing related to fitness or health on this site! Yes, I understand that this election is a hot topic, and yes I know that issues pertaining to us as gay men are on the line, but where is the goddam discussion about it? All I have seen so far are people just unflinchingly attacking each other for their views and creating more discontent!

So a big FUCK YOU to all the people who've just used the forums as a soapbox to stand on while you whip people into a frenzy, be it a liberal-minded or a conservative-minded one. Just remember that at the end of the day, anything you say here is a bunch of chin music. You really wanna do something meaningful for what you believe in? SPEAK WITH YOUR VOTE ON NOVEMBER 4TH!

Religion and politics....LOL. I don't see any problems with discussing most topics, politics included, so long as those arguments are reasoned and don't get personal. When it becomes personal, discourse goes downhill in a hurry.

I agree that it goes downhill fast.

I just do my part to not come back with insults. I try to do my best to apologize for saying anything demeaning, so it ends being a one way insult war.

Those that like me will not be insulted and those that I like I won't feel insulted by them. Even if I get insulted though I have lately just try to stay above the discourse.
