_SAGE_ saidHey OP: since when was it deemed appropriate for white guys to freely use the racial perjorative 'nigga/er' as an every day adjective?

    That was my first thought...

Since when did you ever even know the meaning of "appropriate" ????

Coming from the angry, bitter old man who has gone off on rampant schizo attakcs on muchhhhhhhhh younger guys who fail to return a private message in orderly time, then unleashing a legion of sock accounts to attack other members when he was too pussy to risk being banned/seen for the real foul soul he is, I don't think I'll be paying you any heed.

Back under your bridge! Away with you!

    Scruffypup saidnigga -

A derogatory word used by black people to retain (and exploit) their ancestors past as slaves. Many blacks claim it's a term of endearment (akin to brother, homie, etc), but in no way can it be as its root meaning is ignorance. It's another double standard of racism in our current time.

    White guy "what up nigga"
    Black guy "nigga?"
White guy "you know what I mean bro"
Black guy "you mean I'm a nigger"
White guy "Nah man, it ain't like that"
Black guy punches the white guy.
Black guy gets arrested for assault and released without charges because the white guy is accused of using racial slurs (that the Black guy uses everyday in his vocabulary with his "brothers" that he has no idea if he's actually related to).

Hardly any black people that I know use that term amongst each other. Really, I can think of only a handful in my life who have used it among their immediate social group, and they were poor teens from very rough, lower socially economic developed neighbourhoods, with a limited education and access to cultural capital (that wasn't attained from the streets of poor 'ghettos').

This accounts for less than 3% of black people I have ever known- this includes my family, numerous friends, colleagues, teachers/lecturers, workers, service providers, acquaintances, near strangers et al.

Yet, it is this 3% of black people that I know, and know of, whom ignorant people from other races think are accurate representatives of every or most persons of colour, mostly learned from images portrayed in biased media. Many may assume this contingent is a generally accurate reflection of general reality around the world, therefore, also feel they should be able to say this to black people 'if 'they' all say it amongst themselves, it would clearly hypocritical to not do so also'.

It isn't, and we don't (for the overwhelming majority).

When you purport that 'many blacks' claim this relatively new term is now a term of endearment, I'm going to have to see the receipts on that one.

What is your quantitative definition of 'many', and how does this hypothetical number compare in relation to to the whole black population on this planet?

Eh, I have found that if someone uses that word, then I am probably not going to enjoy their company.

    But ON topic:
I am certain there is a reasonable search and seizure thing, but as there was no officer on hand, the store associates had better be prepared to prove that he had anything. If all they could prove was the candy, the store was in the wrong for attempting to detain him further. If they could prove he had something, they should have called an officer themselves to issue the citation.

Judgeing by the video, that 7-11 is gonna have one hellishly great lawsuit against them.

Shocker. The biggest, dumbest duochebag racist on RealJock doesn't understand why it's okay for me to call my mom a 'bitch' but not okay for him to do the same.

Poor white guys. They can't use the n-word without being thought of as racists. My heart weeps for them.

I have a friend who says stuff like "I have black friends, but I don't think I can date one... just preferences ;)"... that's far more dangerous and racist than a word - let alone a word u people use to each other lol.

Actually, your casual racism is quite dangerous, much more dangerous that overt racism because it normalizes bigotry. Charity begins at home, then spreads abroad. First you think it, then you speak it, then you act upon it.

    Quite disturbing.

You know what's sad about this other than the fact that the black guy was stripped off all his dignity? The fact that some of the black spectators were laughing and enjoying the scene instead of calling the police to stop the situation from further escalating. There's clearly no excuse for stealing, but the black guy didn't deserve this very public humiliation.

That was intense and crazy. In a situation like that. I probably let him steal the box of candy and duck under the cashier counter and call the police. For all we know the theif could've a gun or a knife that ready to be use... icon_confused.gif

_SAGE_ saidIf I was the guy in the vid, I'd sue the cashiers and company for common assault (biting), sexual harassment, damaged property (clothes), false imprisonment and emotional distress.

Let them attempt to prosecute over a stolen candy bar if they want- a misdemeanour offence doesn't deserve such a disproportionate retaliation.

LOL! This look like a softporn vid. Although it was a serious situation, I find it the guy getting stripped by other guys hot. The employees were embarassing, they couldn't even hold the guy.

Don't ever use the word "nigga". It's not correct political.

Tons of people have voiced the same views of Osama bin Laden as well. That doesn't make you, your friend, and Osama any less repugnant than you are.
