sonicpower19 saidLet's all remember it was Clinton's administration that passed DOMA, but still you guys seem to forget that.

I don't forget. It was a Republican Congress that created DOMA, during a time when Clinton was weakened politically. If he didn't sign the Republican DOMA bill the government would grind to a halt.

I think it was a mistake that he caved to the Republicans, but you imply that DOMA was a Clinton initiative. That is a complete lie. It came from the Republicans.

I don't know how more clear I need to be. He publicly stated he opposed the federal recognition of gay marriage and signed it into law.

Thank you for supporting your claim at least you have a logical reason to support him, but we all can't be on the same sides of politics. I respect your decision, but I still find Obama to be using the "supporting gay rights" only for re-election.

I have studied politics and had discussions with representatives in my home state of Florida. I still unsure with Obama. He makes promises and fails to live up to them. His speeches are only filled with anecdotes and emotional rhetoric. That's my opinion and I hope you can respect that.

How can he use "gay rights" to get re elected when so many are actually opposed to us and in all actuality supporting us is a liability to him if anything? He gets the gay people's vote but does not win the religious vote which is a much bigger voting block then we are. Supporting us actually hurts him so why he would pander to us goes to show he actually cares more about our civil rights as a minority then the political ramifications he will have for doing so.

I respect you have a different view but I strongly disagree with you saying Obama "uses" us gays for votes. As I showed he actually follows through with supporting us in many ways by his actions. I gave you a laundry list of ways Obama has supported us (more then any other sitting president mind you) and you still think it is only lip service he is giving us.

CuriousJockAZ saidWow! What a bunch of bogus propaganda that has little basis in fact. Not sure what's more scary --- that the OP would post something so obviously ridiculous, or that some of you people actually believe it. Frankly, I don't care what you believe. It's no accident that "Gay Marriage" was not brought up in any of the debates. Why? Because it so pales in importance in the grand scheme of life as it pertains to the vast majority of Americans with far more pressing issues in their lives that it was not discussed or debated. By all means, vote for whomever you like --- this is your right --- but at least base your vote on facts and vote accordingly.
That has an eerie similarity to #2 in this thread:

Obama knows this now. He took a calculated risk pandering to the gays that will come back to bite him in the ass. He thought it would help him, but it did the opposite. This was no more apparent than with the push-back by christians and others who showed up in droves to support Chick-Fil-A. In one swoop he lost the south, and that probably includes Florida.

I continue to question YOUR scrutiny of OUR political process and Presidential race as a citizen of the U.K. I guess all of the problems in Britain have been resolved and no one noticed. But then why is Scotland looking to secede?

Or maybe you're a sock puppet for the liberals?

DontQuoteMe, that spin is so awful the record can't make a full 360 degree spin, lol.

Everyone, everyone, knows that the number of gays are a tiny fraction of voters compared to the large number of religious nut-bars in your country. To suggest Obama and his team didn't know this is laughable, which in turn makes you laughable for suggesting it.

What's happened here is Obama and co put their ethics ahead of their desire to win.

In a June 1996 interview in the gay and lesbian magazine The Advocate, Clinton said, "I remain opposed to same-sex marriage. I believe marriage is an institution for the union of a man and a woman. This has been my long-standing position, and it is not being reviewed or reconsidered."

    Great Point, Sonic!

Even more disturbing, President Woodrow Wilson-a DEMOCRAT---

said absolutely nothing about gay marriage in .......1915.

However for those wanting a 2012 comparison,

    President Obama FAVORS MARRIAGE EQUALITY.

    and MITTENS..........DOES NOT.

Or he was shrewd enough to know to go with the constituency that he had, rather than trying to futilely court one that was never going to give him an inch.

The fact that a gay man is happy (almost giddy about it) about a bunch of bigots going out in droves to get fast food in opposistion to his and other gay people's civil rights is disturbing to say the least. Then to spin it and somehow connect it to Obama pandering to us gays and then realizing it was a fail is even more crazy.

Where in my post was I coming off as almost giddy? I stated a fact. I didn't say it made me happy. When I'm happy, you will know it. Check back here on election night after the results are in if you want to see giddy. You democrats here need to grow some thick skin. Not everybody is going to agree on everything.

I hope you understand that in many circles globally the term Republican Sheep is used, often referred to in replies as "Baaa-a-aa-aaa"

If you insist, and a few others, in using Liberal Hens, the above can be offered as counterbalance.

I will also observe here that in terms of herding, hens are much more individualistic less docile and harder to herd than sheep.
