I'm re-starting to swim again. I live close to Bathurst community swimming pool but I wonder if there's other better than that one. Any suggestion?

    Better meaning:

    1. Water quality
    2. People focused in swimming (no leisure sections)
    3. Other amenities (+ gym?)

As a city of toronto lifeguard I should be able to answer this, but I can't. I've worked at a few random locations.. in north york area, but none of them really stand out.

North Toronto (located at eglinton and yonge) has a gym + swimming pool (there's also an outdoor one that's open in the summer, but I'm not sure how their lane swim is.

Leaside has a nice facility, mostly everyone there's pretty focused - only downside is their parking lots currently a construction zone and you'd have to walk a giant detour through the skating arena to get there first. Oh, and the schedule's only for like 1 hour every night or something.

Have you been to Douglas Snow? It's right by mel lastman square. It's one of the biggest facilities in north york, city pool wise. I've just never worked there so I wouldn't know how their lane swim is.

Other than city pools, you could check out the YMCA pools. But I've never swam in any of them so no idea.

Actually, the best pools in this city, I find, are the ones belonging to the various universities. I didn't mention those at the beginning since I'm assuming you're just looking for a more public pool. Hart house (at UT) has a pretty nice pool. Water is a tad cold at first, but perfect for laps. York's pool tastes like it needs more chlorine, but it's also pretty great.

When I used to live in civilization (Sheppard & Yonge) my cousins and I would hit the swimming pool at North York Civic Centre. It's right at Mel Lastman Square (Empress Ave. Yonge Ave.)
    You can always try that.

Or if you're looking for a gym with a pretty sizable swimming pool, there's 2 I know of and they're fairly close to the one I mentioned.

    1. Goodlife Fitness right along Sheppard Ave & Yonge.
I used to go there with my friends back in high school. It's not a bad place, pretty quiet at times.
    2. Another gym just north off Yonge and Finch, near the Xerox Tower. I don't know the management now but it used to be Northridge Club or something like that. It's right at Korea town, lots of places to eat and if you're into karaoke, even better!

    Thanks Puppymuncher and Kel!

I live in Kensington Market so I usually go to the one on Dundas and Bathurst. But the water is too warm and I get tired easily with that.

I think Hart at UofT seems to be a very good choice because it's very close to where I live and the amenities seem to be great. Also the I found out that the Queer Swimming club train there.

I should have mentioned where I lived before, but if I move North, now I know where all the awesome pools are icon_cool.gif

I asked a friend and another place in DT is the Ryerson's Gym & Sport facilities near Dundas Square. The membership for non-student is just 50 bucks and it gives access to the pool and gym.

    Thanks again!
