I think that the end of Hostess products is another signal in the Mayan end of the world and coming Zombie Apocalypse!!

See, people will be running around without a sugar fix, looking for anything to give them that high, soon someone will try to make Twinkies & HoHos in their former Meth Lab (since Twinkies on eBay are selling for more than meth does!) and WHAMO! Instant end of the world.

There are already places dedicated to Zombies in most malls. They try to disguise it and call it "Zumba" but just a peek inside while they are performing their rituals and you can see the sweaty, painful, sugar-deprived gaze and you know you better build that bunker and buy some heavy-duty firearms!!

    OOOOOH! Twinks on a stick!

    Do you have a recipe?

PS--On the Hostess Bakery front there is not talk of mediation with the baker's union and perhaps a forestalling of the demise of Twinkies, et al. Interesting that this should happen after the shelves are bare of such.

The recipe for Twinkies includes phosphorus. The same element in White Phosphorus which it is regulated by international humanitarian law, or the law of war.

Death can result from the body absorbing too much phosphorus.

Twinkies are an evil chemical creation of mad scientists under the guise of "processed food".

yeah that's why you should never drink water, it contains HYDROGEN,

the same element used in hydrogen bombs and the hindenberg.

death can result from getting hit by hydrogen bombs and riding on zeppelins

here's some more fuel for your irrational fear factory:

the same fluoride in your toothpaste is also used as rat poison.

So, are you defending Twinkies as a healthy part of a diet?

Those type of scare tactics only work on those who chose not to educate themselves. The rest of us know the human body can withstand lots of dangerous elements up to a certain amount. icon_wink.gif

why would anyone buy products from a union-busting corporation that wants to pay their 19 top managers a bonus of $1.75 million (total) for doing a good job at putting the company out of business?

Every time I hear or see something about Twinkies, I always remember this little gem I found on Youtube years ago.

These poor women must have been devastated when they heard the news! icon_lol.gif

OK, I was pretty relaxed about the demise of the twinkie, and the hoho, and the ding dong. (er... OK, how could those things not be gay?) But somehow I hadn't realized that my favorite post-apocalyptic snack would also disappear. Somehow, they were only edible during road trips, but also somehow indispensable. But I stopped at a truck stop last night, and along with the rest of the whole aisle of hostess snax, they were GONE! icon_eek.gificon_sad.gif

I refer, of course, to the nasty little chocolate donettes.

Good grief! They're going for ten bucks a pack on ebay! I always thought they would be the second-last thing to go. Right before the cockroaches.

Of course there would be empty diet coke bottles on the counter.

Also, who says they lived long enough to hear the news?

ConQuest saidI highly doubt they will be gone forever. Hostess will sell the brand of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and the chocolate cupcakes that are classics to another company who will carry on the legacy.

Brands and products are sold and resold, transferred to new owners, for whatever value they are worth. If there is any positive consumer sentiment (and there apparently is), then it will be resurrected.

Not that it's necessarily a good thing in this case.

My God, I haven't had twinkies in years. Are they really gone? Good riddance really. I mean, there's plenty of other foods that can contribute to obesity AND actually taste good.
Besides, when it came to the twinkie, the only ingredient that was real was the plastic wrapper.
