I was about to say... I'm sure it's been said, but I usually just snap one off and pass out.

braddomo saidI take a simple sleep pill over the counter. For some reason I fall right asleep but on a plane you can't knock me out with a baseball bat. It is so uncomfortable to me on a plane.

PLEASE!!! What's the name of this simple over the counter medication?

I hope you have gotten to sleep since December . . .
I'm no help in the OTC department - I got some for my mother a few years ago, but can't remember the name - Try asking a pharmacist - they are happy to answer questions.

If sex or jacking off don't work, I take Ambien - often 1/2 of a 10 mg tablet. Lasts a few hours, but it gets me off (I mean to sleep). On the odd time 1/2 half doesn't work, I take the other half. No after effects after about 5 hours at most.

Sometimes I get out of bed and write about things on my mind...stories, memories, etc.

Count backwards from 500 and repeat the mantra "deeply relaxed" in my head. I'm usually asleep by 450.

I fall asleep in 2 minutes or so generally. I have heard that if you fall asleep in less than 5 minutes it is a sign you aren't getting a good quality sleep so maybe I am getting a shit sleep at night.

Read something pastoral and descriptive. I find that if I read history or political nonfiction, it is too stimulating for me. I prefer to read some novels by George Elliot, Jane Austen, or Thomas Hardy. Something with long descriptions tend to send me to sleep sooner than anything else.

Absolutely avoid electronic screens and bright lighting. Keep the lighting soft, the temperature cool, quiet or calming sounds, and once you nod off, go to bed immediately.

I listen to Bob Ross talk about painting happy little clouds.

No joke; that man's voice can put me into a Disney princess-style coma faster than anything else on the planet. It's better than Codeine.icon_biggrin.gif

Either read a book, play video games, listen to music, go on youtube until I get tired or I just lay in bed and daydream or think about things I have to do the next day lol

Whenever I can't fall asleep I get up and walk around the house - maybe look out windows or go out on the patios and try to relax. I also go into the den and turn on the t.v. THAT puts me to sleep fairly effectively.

I've discovered that lightly and slowly rubbing my fingers over my nutsack makes me sleepy. Curiously, it's not erotic; I don't get a boner unless I'm thinking lewd thoughts. Powdering with talc makes them slippery and improves the effect.
