"It was really something that set me apart and validated me."

That's what's called a psychological tell, and says everything you need to know.

His speech pattern is really practiced, drama-schoo-lish, and "done" too.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidHe was off base when he cut the plastic surgeon off in mid-sentence. The plastic surgeon (gentleman in the black suit on the left) was iterating how infections could cause problems down the line for all that those implants he has in his body.

Once infectious bacteria lands and lodges onto foreign objects (like an implant or metal device) a slime like material can envelop the implant and treatment with antibiotics is a futile effort.

People with hip replacements who have the tragic misfortune of getting this type of infection have to have their hip replacement removed, then treat the infection and then have another hip replacement. I can't imagine this type of hell on earth. I'm not sure but I'm assuming that the time in between both surgeries the patient is basically waiting for the infection to clear with literally no hip!

I had an implant device in my head (while being treated for stage four cancer) that wound up getting a meningococcal infection. Imagine having meningitis on top of having stage four lymphoma. WRETCHED! Anyway, the device had to be removed because it had metal and I couldn't have a metal plate put in place because the infection would have been able to latch onto the metal and not be effectively treated with antibiotics.

I'm glad someone finally brought up the glaring reality of having that many implants. It could be an auto-immune nightmare. I'm really sorry to hear about your illness dude. Congrats on bouncing back tho and treating your body right icon_smile.gif

So you think having over 100 life threatening procedures is something a "smart" person would do?

1st you are over reacting and 2nd it is none of our business. I would not personally do what he does yet I dont feel the need to judge him. To me that is his form of self expression like when someone puts way too many piercings on his face or goes overboard with tattoos. Do I care? No, can I appreciate the artistic element in it? Absolutely.

He's addicted to plastic surgery. You would not support a meth addict, but you support a surgical addict? Yes, it's his life, but he's at risk every time he goes under, and it is a massive financial load. This should not be encouraged.

Apples to Oranges. That is a very simplistic analogy. If he wants his body to be the canvas of his self expression so be it at least he is the one making the decision here. Go fight against circumcision and ear piercing practiced on minors out of tradition, all of which also deal with their own risks of infection and future problems. Yes, if we want to play the Apple to Oranges game I can come up with just as absurd analogies.

It is overly simplistic, I'll admit. But he has an addiction, and is taking unreasonable risks with his heath, his life, and his money for self gratification, just like a drug addict does. This may be about him now, but as soon as a procedure goes wrong, everyone around him will have to pick up the slack.

its not the same, but very similar. Yet people are supportive here.

You have a very broad definition of what constitutes to be an 'addict'. Maybe you should start by narrowing it down and maybe you will realize the major distinctions between a drug addict and a hobbyist.

yeah, he's a friend of mine once removed. i would have met him last summer, but i was busy with work.

you can see his facebook page

    https://www.facebook.com/wjedlica

i suspect the counts are thrown high because if count every injection site as a procedure, something as simple as botox could be "5 surgeries"

I would never go to that extreme nor do I agree with the logic behind it "for me".
I think there must be a lot of people with painfully boring lives and too much time on their hands to *make the time* to judge what someone else does to their body when it has absolutely no bearing on anyone but the guy under the knife.
I don't agree with the Latter Day Saints, Republicans or Pony Girls either but I don't need to talk shit about them.

I agree with liltanker on this one. He isn't hurting anyone.

But I also think he looks gross. He doesn't look handsome (Or beautiful as he calls it)

Kudos to the doc. for being in such great shape. As for the kid with the implants, it will be interesting to see how he ages.
Not sure I've ever seen anyone with long term implants age. If he keeps on going, he might look like Joan Rivers way before his time.
I'm scared that if someone took a knife to my face I'd end up looking like Bruce Jenner.
I'm thinking I'll just leave well enough alone!

Tony -- don't you dare touch a single inch of your very handsome face. You have absolutely NO NEED of ANY cosmetic work!!

Truth. True happiness comes in seasons and with effort. If there is no sadness, there may never really be happiness, or it's appreciation.

If this guy is happy, than so be it.

Me, I don't want perfect. In all honesty my heart has been broken many times, in many ways. I just wants someone who can understand that, preferably; and appreciate the fact that that has helped shape me into who I am now.

Warning, what works for one person doesn't work for everybody.
