No, he doesn't look white, IMO. You can see in the face he's not pure Caucasian, especially in some of his model shots.

'All American boys' are those who are native from this land. All you other people need a hyphen: Mexican-American, Polish-American, Scottish-American, Egyptian-American, Japanese-American, etc...

I am sorry, but I am not going to lose my Mexican culture and heritage in order to assimilate. I will not drop my hyphen, as another poster suggested. Let us never forget that we are nothing more than a multi-cultured society.

xsocalguy8x saidHm, what do you think of when you heard this term All American Boy? or All American Guy?

4 things came to mind when I heard either of these 2 terms.

    1. All American guys gay magazine
    2. All American boys gay/straight website
    3. An expensive retail clothing store in San Francisco/Castro (Closed).
    4. Gay white guys models for Abercrombie and Fitch !!

Is there such a thing as an All American boy?

    Hehe, because most guys are:

    . African-American
    . Asian-American
    . Latino/Hispanic-American
    . Others-American
. White/Euro-American (White people came from Europe, with so many mixtures and breakdown, most are mutt).

Anyhow, share your thoughts and feelings on this topic.

You forgot about on major minority who lived in what is the present day USA, lived here long before there was territories and treaties. NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES - The Navajos, Utes, Apaches, Lakota, Sioux, Comanches, Crow to name a few. My ancestors the Navajo lived in the four corners region long before the spanish and europeans arrived. Funny thing most people think were all dead icon_rolleyes.gif Were not dead just had to adapt to a society. A society that up until about 115 years ago was trying to kill us off.

All American = Me and other people defined as full blooded descendants of any Native American Tribe

It depends on the context, I think. (I can't speak for you, but) I am an American in terms of my citizenship, and in terms of what country I am loyal to. I am 1/2 Latino for ethnicity, and Mexican-American for that national background, and white/Irish-American for the other 1/2. And, I'm gay.

Calling myself simply "an American" doesn't diminish me, IMHO. How I identify myself depends on what question I am asked.

I never thought all native americans were dead. Far from it. Not to be rude, but I assumed that, aside from some small pockets of those who manage to hold on to their cultural heritages in their daily lives, that there was a lot of Native American blood still left in this country, but it had been intermingled with the influx of other races. Like a lot of native peoples that get crushed by colonists, they get bred (for lack of a better term) into the wider (new) population. I have several friends with part NA background, but I don't know any pure bloods (if such a thing even exists anymore, for any race).

Aren't some or all Native Americans came from north east Asia like a long time ago? They crossed the Bering Straight off Russia/Alaska and migrated down to North and South America. I learned this from History books back in high school.

So Native Americans and Asians have some common ancestors.

It's funny to see where this thread go from Cute guys to race thread to Marcel Nguyen and now History lessons.

All American Guy or something of the sort means nothing of race to me... I have met some great amazing Hispanic/Latino men (whom NORMALLY do not catch my eye) from northern states like Michigan or Ohio and places like that. They don't know a word of Spanish (mine sucks pretty bad) and they are just like any other guy I know. I think it's just a term to describe the american version of the boy next door type. Sure most likely their is a race conitation in the mean based on it's historical use, but that's just not the case now... at least in my opinion.

Yeah. I won't pretend that the term "All American Boy" doesn't conjure an image of a white boy, first and foremost, but I would also apply it to a boy-next-door, varsity-jersey-wearing high school quarterback, regardless of race.

yeah true pure bloods technically don't exist anymore its what they define us by on our CIB (Certificate of Indian Blood) ha ha ha like there rating us like how dogs are. anyway for the most part any NA with over 7/8 indian blood is considered full blooded for the most part even though we may have like 1/8 or 1/16 blood of spanish, or some other ethnicity. should have clarified that ealier.

I would have to disagree considering America began in 1492. American was a term European colonists referred themselves as.

To paraphrase Justice Potter Stewart, weighing in on the possible obscenity of the film Les Amants, wrote: “I shall not attempt to define the kinds of [guys] I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description [ ‘all American guy’]. But I know [one] when I see [one]."

To me the all American look is embodied by the Abercrombie & Fitch jock, and while sexy, I prefer the dark haired, dark eyed smoldering good looks of a sexy Latino any day!

wellwell saidHyphenated-Americans are pathetic; I can tell you that much. "American" is a term highly abused by U.S. nationals; EVERYONE from Canada, Mexico, and even Brazil, etc. are Americans!!

    AMEN

It's not always bad. When i was traveling in Mexico right after the Iraq war started, my local friends told me to say I was from Canada. icon_smile.gif

So when the clamoring hordes are screaming "DEATH TO THE AMERICAN INFIDELS" they mean the entire Western Hemisphere? Phew! What a relief! I thought they just meant the USA.

    I found one:

Note: You don't necessarily need to be American to have the all American look.

So I'm a German-French-Spanish-American? NEWS FLASH: the longer your family lives in this country the more they will lose their cultural heritage through intermarriage and immersion in the dominant culture. The children of the first generation will want to distance themselves from their parents and culture in order to fit in and in doing so will not speak their parent's native language as much if at all. As the generations go by and more and more intermarriage takes place with other cultures, future generations will drop the hyphen because it will just become ridiculous and untenable as in my case and in the case of many Americans whose families have been in this country for generations.

Also, This is not just true of the USA but other countries as well. My BF is from Venezuela and has many cousins who are Italian-Venezuelans. One of his Italian-Venezuelan cousins married a Swiss. Their little boy is now a Italian-Venezuelan-Swiss living in Switzerland. Guess which culture he will adopt? And I doubt he will be describing himself as anything but Swiss. Just as his Italian-Venezuelan cousins living in Venezuela consider themselves Venezuelans.

For me, an all-American guy means someone following the American dream, striving to be better in life, high school athlete, nice body, friendly, funny, humble, likes baseball or some kind of sport, cares about his family, tries to always be nice to people, works hard to pass classes and go to college, is fun to be around and party with, has goals, probably is pretty popular, has his head on straight, has some cockiness and a badass side to go along with it too.

I grew up and live in the midwest where these values are pretty much the ideals that are shared with kids in their families, in church and at school. Gotta say I find all-American guys to be hot, and they are around (in all races and ethnicities), its just that most of them are straight icon_sad.gif

So I recently went on a date and I loved the guys Scottish accent. Anyway, I learned a few things. He said his brother wants/tries to be American. His reasons, he is a quarterback and wears Hollister. I was taken aback that this is what an American image is perceived as. Basically the conclusion was American films play a huge role in how people perceive what an "American" is.

Just thought I'd share this random thought. Also Scottish people listen to Beyoncé!

FYI my interpretation of a Scottish accent ends up sounding Jamaican icon_redface.gif.

You're so sweet. Accents aren't mandatory, only a kind heart and handsome face ^_^

I took a guy out for dinner and some of the things he said were like... icon_confused.gif He was actually surprised that I offered to take him out. I figured I've been offered enough drinks and dinners in my lifetime and wanted to give back. He was like Jack from Will and Grace, not that there's anything wrong with that -- just not my thing.

Seriously, a genuine personality with values trumps a nice accent, face, or body.

    *This wasn't the Scottish guy.
