My favorite moment was when i went to Toronto pride and I saw the mayor of the city, and the armed forces all in the parade, and it was the first time i ever really felt proud to be gay. I saw an entire country behind these people and it made me realize just how proud I am.

My first big pride event was as a teenager. There was an organization for gay youth that was having a gay prom!!! My date was supposed to be Sean G. who was one of the cool guys in the main clique, but he dumped me the day of prom. Meanwhile, I still wanted to go to prom, but my parents weren't going to let me go out that night, not unless I explained what I was getting up to all the time. I hadn't planned to come out, but I found myself asking my mom if I could go to gay prom, and telling her I'm gay. I don't know what kind of reaction I expected, but hers shocked me. She literally burst into tears. I asked her not to tell dad, and she said, but this is something that could end our marriage. I literally couldn't believe how bad it was going. We had to tell my dad, and fortunately he handled it more calmly. He asked if I was going to be queen of the prom.

My parents finally decided to let me go, but I had no date and nothing to wear. Fortunately, it was very informal. Up until then I'd been shy about how I dressed, but for prom, I wore an outfit that showed off my body, (it was the 90s so basically I was a twink raver.) When I met up with my friends to go to prom, Sean was there and when he saw me he said he changed his mind and he did want to go to prom with me.

Prom was at a hotel in downtown, and it was all gay lesbian couples, with drag queens for good measure. I actually met people that night I'm still in touch with today. Afterwards we went to a hotel and chugged straight whiskey. Sean and I had wasted sex in a room full of lesbians, or tried to anyway, and I spent the night puking. The next day I puked on a city bus! And when we moved seats some guy sat in it!

When I went home the next day I was hung over and Sean had left a necklace of dark hickeys all the way around my neck. My mom was like, what were you thinking? You tell us you're gay and then you come home like this?

But I just didn't care. It was the best night of my life, and all these years later I still remember it so vividly.

My favorite gay pride moment was my first time at pride in Toronto when I was 19 years old. I grew up in the country, and that was my first year living in the city. There weren't a lot of guys who were out where I was from, so I felt pretty much alone and feeling out of place.
I found out there was a pride parade, but didn't realize how big the party actually was. For the first time in my life I didn't feel like I was alone in the world. Guys were holding hands with guys, girls were holding hands with girls... it felt amazing, and "normal". People were not in fear of threats or name calling. I was almost in tears because that is when I realized that I could truly be myself and it was ok.
It was also the first time that I danced with another guy at one of the parties... I think I danced for 5 hours straight, just out of pure adrenaline and joy.
I will always remember that moment.

Gay Pride...When comes to mind reminds me of the gay issues in India...It's a walk aimed at removing the stigma on attraction towards same sex...A natural thing made unnatural by the society...

Some on-lookers at Bangalore always think that "what drama is this on road" or some smile at the so called weird dressing (though it's humans choice to wear what they like)...

I have never been able to walk in these as I could never dare to open up about this to anyone...always would carry that stature of so called social behavior formulated by an ancient civilization...Do I blame them? no...That's their thought and we all know humans are always scared of change in life....

But I salute those new gen kids on the streets in Bangalore when I see them i get a good feeling that at least you guys are lucky and dare the change...

Wish to be part of a pride in an unknown land with unknown people but known TRIBE (Considered out of society in most countries & under privileged section of world) called gays...

My favorite moment was going to LB Pride for the first time and being on the parade as a performer(cheerleader) fundraising for local charities (HIV organizations). It was such an amazing experience!!

My story is very vanilla: I simply walked in the parade at the end after all the bands/floats/cars/etc. It was fun, and I made a statement to myself. icon_cool.gif

My favorite pride moment was sitting on the floor of the San Francisco Civic Center with my friend Jake.

We met each other when I was in college in Wisconsin, and this is what he looked like.

    223210_6222125597_6555_n.jpg

I was obviously attracted to him, and we dated briefly. We realized (like many gay men do), that we were better as friends, and for a few years, we were partners in crime. Jake doesn't have much in the way of family, so he became like a brother to me.

Although I saw him on my trips home, when I moved out to San Francisco, he didn't have the means to visit me here. So, for a Christmas/birthday present, I bought him a plane ticket for pride weekend. I wanted to show him the time of his life, so I made sure to plan as many awesome things as possible. Our pride here started with an underwear party

    6769_816191703207_6837881_n.jpg

Then a house party, picnicking in the park, the dyke rally, a street party, a gigantic circuit party, rooftop viewing of the pride parade, and finally VIP entrance to the Civic Center party.

We grabbed drinks and sat down next to each other. When we noticed that neither of us were drinking, I asked him why, and he said, "I'm too tired to pick up the cup."

And I felt the exact same way.

And that's when I knew that we had rocked the shit out of our weekend. When we were so partied out, that picking up a cup was too much work.

That's my favorite pride moment for sure. And I would be thrilled to have the same experience in Miami. Thanks for your consideration!

    Best Pride?
    Toronto Pride 2011

It happens on Canada Day weekend every year so the festivities are always doubly special because they extend not only to the LGBT community but are celebrated by all those who love freedom, equality, acceptance and a good 'ol time!

Although every year provides a story to tell, that year I was introduced to a group of 10 Strapping young men, all ridiculously nice and handsome to boot; six packs as far as the eye could see, or at least as low as their bathing suits would go icon_wink.gif

Turns out they were from Atlanta [personally re-named to Hotlanta] and were mostly couples just up for the party. We pub crawled, dance partied, drank, sang, and had such a fun time! No drama and no problems.

Although this story doesn't end with a giant sexual climax, I did make some friends for life and a summer I'll never forget.

Can't wait to see them soon!

My favorite pride memory was Columbus OH pride 2012, i was 19 years old and very new to the gay crowd, i went down with all the Toledo gays and ended up walking in the parade which was a great experience. We went to union both nights and i had to jump the fence to get in because i was not old enough but the best part was on sunday when we watched the tranny softball game. It was so funny and entertaining and full of fun. The rain came down hard that game and let me tell you nothing if more funny then 1000 gays trying to find shelter from getting wet, it was like they were trying to see how many gays fit under an umbrella lol. It was three days out of the year that i will never forget and i can not wait till i get to be back this june!

My favorite gay pride moment was my third attendance at Philly gay pride when I finally had a full group of new, gay friends to go with after for so long feeling like I was going through life solo.

timshel saidMy favorite pride was my first in San Francisco. I was 19 and wearing black leather pants. I saw one of my college professors from the previous semester out on the lawn. I had a huge crush on him. He was in his late 20s, dirty blonde hair, clean cut, All American, built nicely but not too big, very handsome. I had always hoped he would be gay, but I could never really tell.

I was sitting with a group of friends and eyed him from afar. Eventually he caught my gaze and we had that instant lightning flash of ecstasy. My heart started racing, and the crotch of my leather pants responded. I remember him casually looking back, grinning, then turning away. He was with his friends, and I didn't know what to do, but I knew that we had formed a serious connection right then, and neither of us could deny it.

Well, a couple hours and a few bud lights (official sponsor of SF pride icon_biggrin.gif ) later, I was movin to the music on the main stage, admiring all the other young, horny guys around me. I remember a dance remix of "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper playing when all of a sudden I felt two strong hands gliding up my stomach, starting at my waist. I figured it was some troll, so I turned around with an air of disgust, when, what do my eyes behold, but, the man of my wet dreams, Mr. Professor. That was the most exhilarating split second of my whole life and I doubt it will ever be topped (pun definitely intended) again. I completely melted as he closed his eyes slightly and leaned in to kiss me softly, tenderly, as he caressed my blonde tassels in one hand and held my face below my jaw in the other.

We started to jive together to the music. True Colors is now one of my all time favorite songs icon_lol.gif
Needless to say, we went back to his apartment in the east bay. A lot of massage oil was involved. It was the most perfect one night stand of all time. There was nothing cheap or degrading about it. It was the first time that I really felt beautiful, desired, accepted, sexy. I had only come out a couple of years prior, and, now, I was the king of the world.

    BEST. PRIDE. STORY. SO. FAR.

My favorite pride was my first pride (and one of the few that I have been to)... I had come out to myself for a second time (after having a long-term relationship with a female). The wonderful opportunity to take part in a student exchange program in Brazil arose. Brazil seemed to be the perfect place to explore this aspect of myself without feeling awkward around friends/family. I befriended a brawny, fun-loving, and sensitive man named Hugo in the city of Sao Paulo. He became accustomed to the finer thins in life - having a French diplomat as his boyfriend at the time. With his connections, he showed me a side of Brazil I would not have otherwise known. This included weekend trips to Rio de Janeiro. It was at Rio pride in 2008 that I felt the exuberance of a crowd that feels that they do not need to make excuses for who they are. There was a bus blasting music at Copacabana beach traveling under 5 miles per hour (the party stopped once the bus drove to the end of the route). The hundreds gathered around the bus, danced, mingled, and drank (beer vendors in the street) until we finally made it to the end. I even met a man that I had a short affair with and subsequently visited - Rafael.

Anyone want my ticket? I don't like travelling, heat, crowds, living in general.
