MuscleComeBack saidIn my late 30s, the week after I competed in physique in gay games (when I was a bantam competitor weighing around 125# - this is about four years before my long ten-year layoff in which I grew obese) I was asked by a young photog building his portfolio if he could photograph me. We signed an agreement that the pics were strictly for non-commercial use, not for reproduction, and in exchange I got $500 and 8x10 good quality prints of the pics of my choice.
Two years later I'm in A Different Light bookstore in Chelsea and I see my pic on a greeting card! My BF at the time was excited but I was furious - this creep breached our contract. I pulled the stack and explained to the manager. I then called the photographer and we discussed it and he agreed he'd destroy his inventory, and inform the card company who had bought the license for the image. I eventually had to send a cease and desist letter through an attorney.
The pic is on my profile - b&w. skinny pup under a fishing net.

Why'd you do it if you didn't want anyone to see? icon_confused.gif

It wasn't that I didn't want anyone to see. It was that a contract for a commercial shoot (pics intended for publication) would have given me the right to either a higher fee or royalties, and it angered me that he breached the contract. Proud of the pic, not remotely ashamed. But he profited without havingy permission.

Money is the root of all evil.... So the art was taken off the shelves and lawyers profited. What was the point in any of it??? To me it's silly that you think you were owed. All writers and artists get inspiration from the masses, and it transcends commercialism. Get a real job if you want money, and in the meantime keep your clothes on if you think your nudity is something that must be bought.

Seriously? You think I think my nudity must be bought? Holy fucking leap of logic!!!! LOL. A). It's not art by a long shot. I'm not dilusional. B) I never said I was owed anything but some say according to the agreement. He approached me originally, set the terms, I agreed. It's an ethical question about honoring terms and conditions. If I entered an agreement - willingly - and the terms were to our mutual liking then no harm. He breached them. Period. I didn't pursue him for money he made from the license or the residual sales. I simply stopped him from profiting falsely. Chill.

Yeah, I just viewed the pic in question. I can't believe you're displaying it after your fallout with the photographer... He obviously was foolish for courting you. Even your bf liked it, but you felt violated. I don't understand why you did it in the first place, tbh. It's an innocent pic relative to many I've seen.

    #facepalm

Yes, I model for three art schools and two public colleges, and an animation studio here in town, plus for individual artists privately. In a good year I work three or four times a month, and the money adds up a little. icon_idea.gif

I am no Adonis with a swimmer's build (my online profile says 58yo 6'0" runner's build) but a skilled artist wants experience with all body types: model-perfect girls, fat chicks with rolls, built buff guys with muscles... and skinny guys where they can see the skeletal structure. icon_lol.gif

Friends know I do it, but most don't know I do it nekkid. icon_eek.gif

Only did one shoot which last a hour or so (yes they were noodz). The photog claimed to be a bisexual top who was into twinks.

Immediately after the shoot, he wanted (and got) several hours of me bending him over and fucking his bubble ass senseless - "shooting" him. so to speak.

    Good times, good times.

Still I need to get some up to date nice shots (professional shots actually) done.

Though I won't say no to getting some tasteful up-to-date noodz done.

Agreed, life model drawing isn't about getting a boner over a hot model. It doesn't matter what they look like, once you start drawing you forget it's a person and you're looking at the shapes and shadows.

I did it 2 times, about 4 years ago.
I had lost 240 lbs, and was as fit and muscular as I have ever been in my life, but needed(and still do) plastic surgery to remove the excess skin. One of the interns in my office and I became good friends. She was an engineer, in grad school for a graduate degree in Art. Shes said it was an aid to her engineering.....but she asked me to model for her. She did charcoal, pencil, various paints....
I found it strange, and difficult to do.....to stay still for that long with short breaks and then re-assuming the same pose over about 5 hours....
I'm not really all that bashful about nudity, but I am still VERY self conscious of how bad I had abused my body...and my stretched skin. She did the art, got the grades, took a pic of the work for her portfolio and gave me the originals...
I have them still, in a very hidden private, safe spot.icon_cool.gif Good experience, checked off my bucket list.

No, hottjoe, it was meant as a compliment. As someone with a business background - MCB has a point. If someone took a screen cap of one of your private pics and started selling it for a fee on another site and you found out they were making good profits off an image of you, how would you feel?

His contract specified how the pics were to be distributed. He should have some control and say in how that happens.

I understand. It's business. Commercialism makes us all grotesque.

If someone profited by stealing my pics and mass producing them I would enjoy it and ride whatever wave came my way. If I stopped to get angry I'd not enjoy my life to the fullest. Everyone would enjoy my beauty, except for me, the victim. I'm not a victim. And I realize how lucky I am.

eagermuscle saidThis coffee table book photographer Ken Haak once wanted to photograph me for some project but he told me I had to get abs first and to come back in a few months. In retrospect, I regret never doing either - yet another of a long line of surprising missed opportunities.

This rings true. I can't help but roll my eyes at guys who think they have to defend themselves from flatterers (i.e. wwyd if an older fat guy emailed you thread). One day, many of them will regret that they didn't appreciate what others saw in them until after they lost it.

I've done it a few times in my life, but nothing real consistent. However, on the other side of the camera, I've done lots of car (some posted in RJ in the past) bike, architectural and landscape, but not much of people.

I did studio work for the first time with my workout partner and found it very difficult and not remotely titillating in spite of the fact that he has a super ripped and defined small body. I trained him that way from scratch and he had the genetics to really make it work with lower ab definition that I'm not sure I've seen before on anyone. We had done a bunch of smart phone pics up on the workout floor every two or three months, but we wanted to do something really good this time.

In fact, it was the first time I had used the hot shoe on my camera (Canon T4i). None of it was nude, but some was close to show definition in his upper quads and lower abs in the same pic. He didn't want to use a body building posing suit and neither did I because it was heinously ghey looking so it took some real imagination to do what we did.

We had trash for maybe 25% of the shots, which is not too bad, but I did come up with 8 - 10 really really good ones out of the 350-400 shots we took. Of course, after we were done, then I thought of all the things I should have done. I worked out with him almost daily then we'd shower, change and go eat so I'd seen him nude and him me, probably hundreds of times so I knew his body very well, but sure didn't know my camera yet or the studio or the soft boxes or strobes or ...... and we were racking up $65 / hour for the studio. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, but didn't quite get it all figured out.

The few really good ones I got came out way better than I thought they would, but I still have a long ways to go. I did a shitload of a lot of research before we did it, but then forgot most of it once the $65 / hour clock was ticking.
