I wouldn't say they are more fashionable, but have a richer and greater appreciation and sense of fashion. The country and its people have been established far longer than us Americans for one.

And they along with the rest of Europe have been setting trends for centuries.

America is young and a come as you are kind of place. Case in point...Walmart.

    and that hat

Yeah. One pic. I have some American Eagle in my wardrobe. And what about my hat? I love it a lot. It's my signature. Like I give a shit about your judgment. Kiss my ass and my $225 black Cole Haan "Gucci" loafers. icon_rolleyes.gif

American Eagle is ugly shit and so is that hat. Loafers also usually fall under the ugly category.
Doesn't matter if you have the money if you ain't got the taste. $225 isn't even that much for shoes.

I'm sorry that you are mad because you don't know anything about fashion and are completely clueless to the fact that you look just like any American high school kid you could pick out from any mall food court.

I will agree that one sees a lot less of the 'ultra-casual look' after leaving the borders of the US to come to Europe, but I think the OP's comparison fails simply based on juxtaposing London with the all of the US. Real apples and oranges. London does not represent all of the UK any more than our metropolises do the rest of the country.

Firstly, I have loved reading this thread! Very funny.

Secondly, being a UK native I would love to wholeheartedly agree with the original statement. However I can't in good conscience. Most of the UK has a very relaxed attitude to what they wear in their day to day lives, with most people opting for a t-shirt with jeans.

There was a time when night clubs and even some bars had a strict dress code; no jeans, no running shoes, or sports apparel of any kind, but now even those have relaxed their dress code. The result is a multidute of overly fake tanned guys with greasy hair who look like the belong more on Jersey Shore than in a nightclub in the UK. (in fact google geordie shore (oh god the shame of it all))

Thankfully there are still those of us, (myself included) who wouldn't dream about leaving the house before making sure that even a casual look of jeans, t-shirt and trainers aren't perfectly matching and colour coordinated with our underwear. Or going for a night out without wearing a perfectly matching and pressed dress shirt, trousers (not pants boys and girls, they go under your trousers! Lol) with leather brogues and a matching well tailored pea jacket from Banana Republic!!! icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

you have to admit, the usa has a vast amount of 'persons of size' than any other country. i am continually gobsmacked at how fat a society we have become. go to any super market or chain store and you will find at least 3 or 4 people wheeling around on their electric scooters, body fat oozing over the sides and 9x out of 10 they have an oxygen bottle with them. i just finished flying a 2 day in and out of florida and there was this man squeezed into the window seat. he boarded first because he had 'mobility issues'. his ankles were purple! i felt really bad for him until we were halfway to fort lauderdale.
as i was walking by, i saw his 'home made' inflight snack. not one, but 3 mr pibbs, two slices of cheese pizza and a bag of crisps. he topped that off by consuming one dunkin chocolate covered 'donut' and a jelly filled one. later on during the flight his call bell rang (oh god, please don't be a heart attack!!!) to ask for a mr. and mrs. t bloody mary mix. with nearly a thousand mg of sodium. i declined and persuaded him to drink some water as he looked a little dehydrated. i wish our population here in the stats would be a little healthier. every time i walk into a walmart i just shake my head at the demographic of 'oversize' adults and kids. breaks my heart. and no, skin tight tights and midrifts on the women are NOT attractive.

Yeah, but for the sake of authenticity, shouldn't her skirt be up around her waist?

    Furthermore you're all fat.

That's why you're all less stylish. Cos you can't fit into clothes. Furthermore when you think you're stylish cos you shop at express.... lmao, no.

The Europeans that I have met in my lifetime always look on point, so I have to agree.
