hebrewman said...go to any super market or chain store and you will find at least 3 or 4 people wheeling around on their electric scooters, body fat oozing over the sides and 9x out of 10 they have an oxygen bottle with them.

Yeah, that's one of my pet peeves in stores that offer courtesy scooters. The riders (usually women) make for a wide load in the grocery aisles, and you can't get your cart past them. The scooters are designed to be narrow to use in tight spaces, but then the obese riders nullify the advantage.

Then I see them park the scooter, leave the store and walk out to their cars, which aren't marked as handicapped. They can walk perfectly fine, and they're not legally disabled like my partner & I both are, they're just too fat and lazy to wanna do it. But they'll tie up a scooter when other people with genuine medical issues could use them.

It's really annoyed me a few times when I wanted my partner to use a scooter, like following the time he almost lost his leg to gangrene caused by blood clots, that left him with impaired sensation in his foot and leg weakness. He couldn't even drive a car for 3 months, much less walk normally (he's much better now). And then this past May when he had a stroke and was weak for a while.

I swear the stores should have a sign-out procedure for those scooters, maybe only issue them to people who have legally parked in a handicapped space, with a permanent blue or temporary red disabled permit marker. Or present some other proof of a genuine need, besides wanting to selfishly joy ride. icon_mad.gif

GimmeMore saidAs someone who recently spent several months in the UK, mostly London, I am definitely more than qualified to say this.

In the UK practically everybody that doesn't live in a council estate or trailer park is fashionable.

In the US everybody wears shorts all the time.

    It isn't cute.

    Yay UK.

    Your tattoos are tasteless.

    Your pink "panties" are tragic.

Your body is quite average (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Your overuse of the adverb gives me a headache.

Oh, and you live Texas's most pretentious city.

So, of course, your OP doesn't surprise me.

It might depend on where you are in the UK as people in the big cities tend to be more stylish/put together than their country counterparts, something similar to the US. IN GENERAL, yes, I'd agree Europeans are better dressed than Americans but that is because we let our desire for comfort overrule everything else. Also it doesn't help that so much of the US pop is fat...it's hard to be chic when you're plus size (hard but not impossible). It's hard to believe the US used to be an arbiter of style in the 20th c....how far we've fallen. icon_cry.gif

Quality is not worth the price, and most of their stuff is pretty C-grade in design.
