I have never been called cute. And I'm not looking forward to it either...

While being called "cute" is nice, I've always been slightly uncomfortable with the way it implicitly places you below the person who's giving the compliment. He may like you enough to call you cute, but because "cuteness" is associated with younger/smaller things, it's a subtle message that he's the one who's actually in charge.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking the issue. icon_neutral.gif

    Cheesy?

    Quirky... oops

... Nothing worse that having the courage (even if it was liquid courage) to talk to a guy you really like and have him laugh and say you're corky. No body wants to date Quirky. Let alone f#ck.

So I'll take cute any day.

Yeah, I was up at 5am today for errands and I still haven't gone to sleep. My brain is a little ... tired. Its not even like I can redeem myself and have typed corgi... for the dogs.

Haha, it seems that all I'm every called is cute. I take it as a compliment but every now and then I liked to be referred to as something a little manlier.

I used to have no problem with the word until I saw someone here describe their use of the words to describe someone "whose feelings they didn't want to hurt." icon_neutral.gif That kinda ruined my day.

I pretty much take that word with a tiny grain of sand these days.

I doubt being Quirky is that much of a deal breaker. (I like Quirky people, but if it is a deal breaker to alot of guys, then I'm doomed icon_eek.gificon_cry.gif )

I take it as a compliment generally but I dislike the many double meanings the phrase can have. There is nothing worse than sending a hot guy a "hey there" message to try and start a conversation and have them ignore you shortly after telling you you are "cute" or a "cutie." I seem to get this usage of the term most often, as a way of dismissing me without insulting me.

Why can't guys just be straightforward and say what they're after ahead of time? Don't like 5'8" skinny blonde guys? Tell me! I won't be offended. After all, neither do I, lol.

My lady friends call me cute all the time and I feel as if they are referring to me as some scampering puppy (Daaaw, look at the cute lil guy over there:evilicon_smile.gif. I haven't been told that I'm cute by a guy yet, excluding those cute/cool/sexy threads here, and truthfully I wouldn't know how to react if it were to happen...Except for maybe dying a bit on the inside...

It's a very specific compliment on your appearance and / or demeanor.
I don't associate any derogatory or condescending baggage with it. Enjoy it while you've got it.
