There are two movies opening soon that I can see as having an effect on the election...

W ...this ones doesnt take much of a guru to see the potential effect of this movie. It will keep dumb-dumb W in front of young voters just before the election.

another movie that I think could have an influence is...

Flash of about the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper suing Ford auto company for stealing his invention. It's a "stick it to the man" kind of movie. In the current financial/Wall St mess, I can see that the movie can keep people riled up all the way to the voting booth

I don't know how much entertainment really effects votes. There are people who are Conservative no matter what and people who are Liberal no matter what. Those people make up the vast majority of Americans. I've never understood the Independents who seem to go back and forth but I don't think entertainment really effects their vote. I could be wrong.

Many voters do not know who they are voting for or the issues of the canidates (presidential elections may be a little different).

In gerneral, people vote for the most memorable name, who looks better, if they actaully saw the person, media influence, and statistically the taller canidate.

Look at Chicago, who will elect main public figures - there is too much to look at and too many different positions being filled. Not to mention, many wont take the time to do the research.

I think this movie will affect people - Many believe what they are told (depending on the messages). I know it is not a good example but look at the movie called Fox Report

    Movies really don't "Affect" elections
Look at Michael Moore's movie Fahrenheit 911 ... that movie came out right before the 2004 election
and EVERYTHING in that movie turned out to be true ... and Then some

And where did it get us?
4 more years of crap we're buried under
    Shovel anyone?

Oliver Stone is behind "W" and the man was a proven liar when he released "JFK". What does that say about Democrats?

"A Flash of Genius" buys into the myth that Republicans support the fat cats and the Democrats look out for the little guy. This works, especially with the idiots who put any stock in Olver Stone flicks. The fact is, it was the policies of FDR and LBJ that ran the competition away and left us with the Big Three and last week in the Congress the Democrats supported the Fat Cats on Wall Street while the Republicans looked out for the regular joe.

You forgot to mention "Stop Loss". Add anti-war/pro-terrorist propaganda to the list.

Funny how if the rightwing bent on things is the Truth?

It might be a bigger sell to the public right? icon_rolleyes.gif

Let's fund a movie where the republicans are actually for regulation
    and oversight
and don't do quid-pro-quo politics with the lobbying interests

Oh that was done .... in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
