Playing the victim card can't get you where you want forever. Why not suck it up and just do the things you've got to anyway?

Some of our fellow RJ'ers live in places where they could get beat and possibly killed socially &/or literally. There are places in the US that haven't changed; and even in places that are otherwise years ahead of the rest of the country bigotry and ignorance still exist. Some people can't help it; they're divided between their hearts, minds, and bodies.

Never thought about it that way! Good insight.

Never did I; funny how life teaches you as you go. Just remember, just cause they're fighting their struggle on a different line of the battlefield; they're still on our side, even if they're bitching and fighting about it. Like unruly siblings.

I try to imagine another planet, another sun, where I don't look like me and everything I do matters....

It's interesting how an American teaches the Emperor of Japan what's most important for Japan in the end. icon_confused.gif

Just like white guys taught all the "uncivilized" how to live proper lives.
You're coy-fully missing the point. Which means you're probably trying to find the right context for the imagery and scene choice I've made. Tell you this, these images are part of a recent collection of also complex yet simple meaning images I've chosen.

I'm learning how the Ottoman's implemented the Tanzimat to westernize and modernize the empire in the mid-nineteenth century. The correspondence between the Euros, and how they saw the people of the middle east was so fucking condescending and dehumanizing. Unbelievable!
The US did the same thing to Japan. It's galling to see that video. American eyes always have to see righteous American heroes schooling others how to be true and just and perfect...just like Americans!!!!

History, true history sucks; cause it can't be romanticized into the imaginations of people who understand it better. I know what the movie did, and cringed when I saw the movie the first time for myself.
I'm using this in a context outside of what the movie is portraying, and for me its just symbolism for something else; which has nothing to do with the bs that happened in real life.
Unless, you all know exactly what I mean by posting this, and want to just troll me out of the satisfaction of honoring someone everyone else happened to be against. I rather humanize than demonize. I much rather prefer acceptance in the real world; than denials of the fantasy.

    I don't troll.
It's context fit with what I learned in my Ottoman class.
I commented on the video. That's why I copied only the video.

Nothing personal. It's a free forum. I'll write what I want.

    P.S. I thought I posted this in WOYM9. I'm out of context. D'oh!!!

thebearerofbadnews saidi'll argue, i'll disagree, i'll tell someone off and etc BUT i don't do flamewars though. that shits for amateurs. i'm not a flamer. i'm not a troll. i'm a real person that posts here without any intentions. it's not what it looks. i'll pretty much hang with anybody off of here because this is nothing personal. i don't hate or love anybody on here like that because i don't know anybody here like that enough to have deep feelings for them like that. it's that it's hard to tell if people in here take shit to heart then that's something else.
Great view to have. So many good perspectives on the forums. Truth is truth, and there is no need to get all caught up in the he said he said this that and the other. All we can do is live, laugh, smile, and carry on as our own awesome selves here and elsewhere.
