    i'm fixing to start running.
i already have all of the details about what i should do as far as exercise goes.

i know you can take your ipod along with you when you run, so that will be very fun for me.

(oh and should i have that Nike + Ipod thing installed? where can i get it and what is it's purpose?)

i have a little bit of an exercise playlist and here it is:

    1. ABBA- Mamma Mia
(The opening beat of this song kind of make me feel like a hampster on one of those wheels, or it makes me feel like a Schizo fixing to go nuts)

    2. Goldfrapp- Ooh La La
(Very high energy song, very catchy, it would almost make me wanna stop in the middle of the street and do a striptease, if i wouldn't horrify my neighbors)

    3. Guster- What You Wish For
(The lyrics are very easy to relate to for lots of people, and if you do it on a sunny morning, it can be very beautiful)

    4. Joni Mitchell- Big Yellow Taxi
(When you run outside, I think this is the perfect song to examine your surroundings with, especially if you live in a wannabe Wisteria Lane place like i do)

    5. Keane- Somewhere Only We Know
(Oh, I've loved this song since it first came out when i was in 8th grade.
Very beautiful and puts you in a great mood)

    6. KT Tunstall- Suddenly I See
(Even though this song is about women admiring other women, it can easily be about men if you change a few things around.
It kind of keeps you thinking about achieving that dream body)

    7. L7- S***list
(Don't know if you can curse on here. But this song definitely makes you feel like an angsty teen in the 90's and it's good to run real fast to)

    8. Liz Phair- Extraordinary
(I love old Liz, but this is one of the only good songs she's had since she sold out. Makes you feel great about yourself.)

    9. Mirand Lambert- Kerosene
(Ok, I'm a country boy, and this song makes you feel so badass.
Makes you keep pushing further in your workout)

    10. Marianne Faithfull- Why'd Ya Do It?
(Marianne Faithfull is absolutely amazing, and this is by far her most in your face song. Makes you feel like someone pushed to the limit one too many times.)

    11. Nancy Sinatra- These Boots Are Made For Walking
(I won't be running in boots, but this song is the ultimate for feeling sassy)

    12. Nellie McKay- Columbia Is Bleeding
(This song has this marching band on acid feel to it.
Plus I loves the lyrics and the story behind it)

    13. No Doubt- Running
(Yes, it is called Running, but it's a great song to slow it down to)

    14. Pansy Division- Spiral
(No gay man's Ipod would be complete without some Pansy Division.
I personally have about 60 songs by them on mine.)

    15. The Pierces- Boring
(This is a great simple song. Very catchy with the coolest beat ever.
Makes you realize how much this world can suck)

    16. T-Rex- Bang A Gong (Get It On)
(Oh, T-Rex are the ultimate glam rock band, and this song makes you wanna get buckwild.)

    17. Tori Amos- Spark
(I've loved Tori since I was 7 and this song makes me feel kinda creeped out but if you listen closer it can make me kinda sad.
Anyways, it has a beautiful rhythm to it.)

    18. The Raveonettes- My Boyfriend's Back
(I love their cover of the song, cuz it makes me feel as though i'm engaged in a high speed car chase with a very attractive man at the steering wheel)

    19. Pink Floyd- Time
(Great song by and equally great band.
I think it makes you realize how fast time goes by and it also makes me feel kind of euphoric)

    20. Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters- Super Trouper
(Ok, I'm a huge ABBA fan, and watching Mamma Mia was like paying a visit to and old friend that you forgot how amazing they were.
This song makes me realize that no matter how much crap is going on in my life, there will always be someone there for me)

Please list some of your favorite tracks to run to, and if you can, the reason why.
I'll probably put them on my iPod as well.

Thank you for reading and Thank you for your input.

Um, it may not go along with the rest of the music but I'd recommend "Points of Authority" by Linkin Park.

And on another note, sometimes its nice if you don't run with music and just look around. Especially in the fall.

More importantly, I'd recommend a running buddy.

If you don't like any of that, just something with a solid, fast beat that can affect your subconscious.

    thank you.

i will try it music-less now that fall is right around the corner.

and i will look for a running buddy, but i'm not in a big rush to get one.

i'm kind of a lone wolf.

I find that it's better to just carry the tunes in my head (actually more for cycling) when the grade changes suddenly, I can mentally switch to something with the right tempo.

BTW: I just found out that there are free apps that let the iPhone play all the streaming channels on the internet! No-effort programming.

As far as the Nike+ devices.

I love them. They really helped me start running. It is very nice to see how you progress or how you don't and make changes. The ipod one only works with the Nano and possibly the new touch. But there are also ones that don't need an ipod. There are tons of sites that have lots of info on the Nike+ running system. Have fun!
