    welll ...

BHO is half white, which in Kansas could mean that he's 50% a mix of Irish, German, Polish, Swede ... whatever his family's got going back there.

My own mom was 50/50 Irish German, born in Nebraska. My dad, very English, Irish, Scot, and a tiny bit of French, born in North Carolina.

There could be many more than one measure of the old sod in BHO - or not. Soon the Norwegians may be claiming a share!

I've always thought of him as bi-racial. In fact many black americans are multi-racial (black, white, and native american). I thought a black friend was latin shortly after meeting him. I was taken back when he started referring to himself as black.

We always know Obama is not a descendant of slaves. Early on in his political career many said he was not black enough. His family, however, is clearly black. Had he married a white woman I don't think the image of the white house family would be so profoundly changed as it is now. The point is he broke the barrier regardless of his bi-racial background.

One other significant point about his black side. For me the victory was sweet beyond just the fact that Bush is leaving. While Sarah and McCain kept slinging mud about his personal life, he took the high ground. His black side gave him no other choice.
