Jsttennis77 saidHmm... I'm not sure if I can define the following as my favorite but I do like to play it over and over when people visit because it annoys them. In fact one year I threw a Christmas Party and put this song on Repeat all through dinner. The Twelve Days of Christmas. It really grates on peoples nerves when you sing along.

I guess some of my favs would be .....That song that goes la la la la merry merry merry christmas icon_smile.gif I can't think of the name. It's in that movie Home Alone. Then theres Rockn Around The Christmas Tree which is pretty cool. That Chipmunks Song is also a fav of mine. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas but it can get depressing. I HATE little drummer boy.

I don't think they are Christmas Carols icon_confused.gif

I'm showing my age, but I love any Christmas song sung by Perry Como...but my all time favorite is "Little Altar Boy" by the Carpenters.

In fact, their entire "Christmas Portrait" CD is BEYOND BEAUTIFUL...it's a bit dated in sound, but her voice....jeez. Awesome.

I'd have to agree with you there because it gives me the same reaction.

It was watching Home Alone as a kid that got me hooked on it.

Sean_85 saidMine has to be Carol of the bell's and Oh holy night. I'm also a big fan of Mariah's "All I want for Christmas"

when do you usually start listening to Christmas music? For me its usually start of November.

I'm making a Christmas CD so if you have any faves that I might like add them to this thread and I'll check them out!

That cracks me up, but so true! you can't help but be in a good mood when Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas" comes on the radio.

That said, my ultimate favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night"

I also like "Do You Hear What I Hear"

So many beautiful christmas carols, it's difficult to single out just one. If I have to choose, I'll say my favorite is "In the bleak midwinter". Both the Gustav Holst version, more common in the US, and the Harold Darke version, heard mostly in the UK, are great, but I find the Darke version particularly moving.

It's funny, I am NOT a religious person, but when it comes to Christmas music the old classic religious ones with the classical orchestration are usually my favorite. Like Oh Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark the Angels Sing, etc. My most favorite is the Little Drummer Boy.

    Parum, pum pum.

I'm a sentimental, sappy fellow... icon_smile.gif I kinda like 'em all. Except can't really listen to the 12 days of xmas - a little too painful.

Especially like It's Christmas, Charlie Brown! album, by Vince Guaraldi (sp?). And some old school stuff, Jingle Bell Rock, Bing, Dean, Nat... Can't stand Manheim Steamroller. And like some "ancient noels," almost celtic sounding tunes.

But can't say I listen to any before December - saw xmas crud up before halloween this year, which kinda bugged.

"Carol of the Bells" and "White Christmas"

Those two really put me in the holiday spirit.

Started shopping back in July, just finished up last weekend. The lights go up this weekend on the house, and the tree gets put up Thanksgiving night as a part of our family tradition.icon_lol.gif

A great list. Very thoughtfully put together. I bet it was warmly received.

I think that O Holy NIght has too be my favorite. I love Celine Dion's versions, but check out Country sing, Doug Stone's version as well.

Another is Little Drummer Boy, sublime short and sweet.

This board is the only time in my life I have ever seen Ave Maria associated with Christmas. In my view there is no connection.

Adeste Fidelis with the full David Wilcox descant for the penultimate verse and last.

"Of the fahter's love begoten" is also good but too long and the theology a bit dodgy... but not as dodgy as "I saw three ships"
