By the end of the twentieth century, modern Western Civilization had come very close to equality between the sexes. Now in 21st century America, to even suggest that men and women aren’t equal is blasphemous. Women and Men can hold down the same jobs, raise families, and earn equal incomes.
Then why is it okay for a man to walk around in public without a shirt, but not for a woman?
Now I’m not saying that I want to see every adult female walking around shirtless, with their ya-yas swinging in the wind. But in all fairness, why is a woman’s breasts seen as a sexual organ and a man’s isn’t. Is it the larger nipples? What if you pump or pierce your nipples to make them larger? Is it the breast feeding factor?
And what’s the big deal with breast feeding in public? Some people complain that it is obscene for a woman to pop out her boob so the wriggling little fiend will shut up and eat, but to me it seems as natural as farting. Women have been doing this for centuries.
But don’t think that the lawmakers and complainers are simply targeting women these days. In Atlanta, there is a proposed city ordinance to ban the wear of saggy pants that expose the wearer’s drawers. The exposure of any underwear, to include women’s sports bras or bra straps, boxer shorts or jock straps above the pant line, etc, would fall under the same portion of the city code that bans public sex or fondling your genitals in public.
A number of cities have tried to pass dress codes but there is only one, Delcambre, LA, that I’m aware that was successful. In Delcambre, exposing your underwear can ear you a $500.00 fine or six months in jail.
I doubt Atlanta will be successful, especially since the fashion of sagging pants began with the black youth culture and the population of Atlanta is African American in the majority. Straight men will rarely complain about a woman’s thong showing above her jeans (unless she’s around 300+ lbs of love). And besides, if a Man can walk down a street or a beach wearing not but a Speedo, how is that not ‘indecent’ , yet a man wearing Jeans, Hoodie, Ball cap, and underwear is ‘indecent’ when all of his flesh is covered up?
What is indecent? What are your opinions, gripes, thought?
