Yes, but only my very close friends. And I never do the dumbass shoulder-bump "guy hug" thing that's trendy among straight guys right now. It's a real honest-to-God, wrap-your-arms-around-and-squeeze hug or nothing.

I knew I was completely accepted by my best straight buddy on the day afer his wedding (at a beach resort), when I was leaving and he gave me a long, close, heartfelt hug, both of us wearing only board shorts and dripping wet, right in front of his wife, siblings, all his friends, and his parents.

And - to anyone who's fantasizing right now - shame on you!

I live a for more "straight" life than a gay one, and my friends and I give each other hugs as a traditional way of parting. Nothing else is ever read into it; it's just a sign of friendly affection.

Something I've always been able to do, and I'm not bi either. Can make a big difference.

I even get a kiss on the check too, from a few of them, and my friends range for farm boys and bikers, and rednecks in the bush, to suites in the City; Aussies and Australians too.

Most of our friends are straight. Yes we hug when we see each other and when parting. Nothing is thought of it. I also hug the guys in my family too. My partner's family is very much into hugging. When we met 20 years ago I didn't like it. I grew up being taught not to show emotions and we never hugged or kissed. In the years we have been together I have learned to love it and it has rubbed off on me and my family. It is a good feeling to know someone cares enough to give you a hug hello or goodbye.
