a lot of passive homophobia in the replies to OP. gyms are essentially a place for closeted gay men, some are there to work out and some for something else, however, if you are serious about your workout then nobody is stopping you from that other than yourself.

trying to act you are better than "those" types of gay men, means you are not.

oh lord, there used to be a 24HR Fitness in my town that was all about picking up guys. Not sure who designed the building but there were two saunas at the end of a long hallway. With a big window showing the hallway from the larger sauna. Hallway. 30 ft long
You walk down the hallway, door on right. Enter a small hallway. Big wet sauna on the left, small dry sauna on the right. Completely private. If you wanted to fool around, you had complete privacy. Men only. btw. If you were in the big sauna, someone would sit next to the window and could see anyone coming down the hall. If you were in the small dry sauna, there were two doors before someone walked in. Plenty of time to grab a towel.

Now, granted, I was a 21yo buffed dude back then.. 52yo buff guy now. It was fun, before the internet, Grnder, social media. Met one of my long term BF's there. I had sex there with some amazing guys over the 5 years I went there. Fun sex, group sex, or just everyone jacking off together with no touching. Young kids don't know that. Fucking snowflakes. Gay guys, 1975-2000. We had a great thing.

Young gay men today, swipe left or right, 1,000 guys available. But nothing changes. I would take an adult bookstore over grndr. The hunt and the anticipation was 75% of the fun. The fun was in the scary anticipation that the one hot guy would show up, see you, and give you a signal. or not. Went into the video room. Did he lock the door? Or leave it a open? Have fun and go home.

I've gotten cruised a few times. Each time I was completely naked, getting changed after swimming, and suddenly it was like there was a piece of meat dropped into the shark tank. Water fountain > sink > back to water fountain > The Look, etc.....

I didn't give any sign of interest and they moved on, but I think this will happen in every gym because we're everywhere. It's not every gay guy that's doing it though. I agree with "just ignore them and do your workout." You can't stop people from adding you to the spank bank if they like you. They'll do that even if you're clothed.

Triggerman's j/o sauna story is kind of hot though icon_biggrin.gif

Been in a million gyms. Most are boring as hell. Others are so straight I wonder where the women are? hint hint. I have had conversations with guys telling me about upcoming dates with girls they met on "The Web". Guys 32-39? Did you just move from Northern Utah? I watched a "straight" guy shave his whole body in front of everyone in the common area. Who does that? Jack off in a cubicle? OK. Walk around with a hard on? Not the best. Shave your legs and ass in clear view of everyone? You are a freak.

Gyms just sell gravity. It's everywhere. Pick up a bag of groceries. Gravity. It's kinda free.

I don't see anything wrong with this, granted, I've spent most of extremely tamed slut phase in the university's locker room learning. But only been caught once, if two or more guys see what they like and the other parties reciprocate, why not go for it in a safe way. With that said about cruising, I don't think other people should be subjected to the scene and for goodness's sake clean up after yourself! That university's gym was like my heaven, the opened gang showers also helped to know which guy is interested. It certainly helped with my self-esteem and shyness.

I've found gyms with a higher "straight" membership usually has the most cruising going on. At my current gym, higher population of gay men and I don't see that much cruising going. Granted, that most likely means I'm not getting hit on. Fine by me. lol

I try to get in and out of the gym. Just do my workout and if need be I'll shower there. I just kinda think it's bound to happen that a gay guy will make a comment. I don't cruise at the gym but have on occasion had guys make comments about my body and/or appearance. Or they look at what i'm wearing whether it be my underwear or jeans. I don't get all "flipped out".... I'll speak to them and be polite. If they take it further and I don't like it...I plainly say, sorry i'm not interested.

I love the whole idea of it, but I don't think I would want to ruin the sanctity of gym time for myself. I don't mind taking a little peek at someone or vice versa. I think beautiful things should be admired and I am a bit of a voyeur. Some people are just too intense about it. Like the other day this older gentleman was just staring at me hard core with his leg propped up on the bench while he "brushed his hair" (not that he had much of it). I don't mind being glanced at while I change but that did make me feel a bit uncomfortable.

Most guys are pretty modest at our gym and they will wrap a towel around them when they take their clothes off to shower. Our gym has private shower stalls. However there are some guys that don't wrap up and then they shouldn't complain when gay guys stare at them and eye them up. But these guys that don't wrap up either love showing off their body or they are gay and want the guys in the locker room to see their package and maybe hook up with a hot guy.

I workout early in the morning. Everyone is pretty much get in, get done, get to work. The showers are separate stalls with a curtain. Some change in the shower for privacy. I'm not that modest but I figure we're all men so who gives a care as long as your not obvious and make someone else uncomfortable.
