canadian_stud saidHe's only gay because he can get younger tail. So many old farts are like that. When they are in their 20's they are homophobic but as the cross 50 they realize the younger chics are not interested in them or only interested in their money. Hence they embrace their homosexuality urges when they are older so they can get hot sex .

And you know this about Tim Cook's past HOW?

johnnyqhomo7 saidWOW. Apple ceo is a homo. That is awesome icon_smile.gif. I know there are more gay people out there in powerful positions, but they might not want to be out as to sacrifice that power on the altar of civil disobedience. WOOOHOO. icon_smile.gif. I love coming out stories.

The difference between Tim Cook and many guys is that he wasn't in the closet. I think a lot of closeted guys don't realize that being out isn't a daily parade. Its really more business as usual.

And I think also a tribute to the late Steve Jobs, who knew Cook was gay and yet advanced him into a position to succeed him, when Jobs knew his own condition was likely terminal. And as just one other example, Apple had issued a public statement opposing California's Proposition 8, when few businesses did, and contributed money to defeating it. Apple's gay-friendly corporate attitude has a long predigree.

HRC gives Apple a perfect 100 on their Corporate Equality Index year after year. I think that seals the deal. Tim Cook is there because Apple itself is gay friendly, I would even say pro-gay. His publicly coming out is his way of helping us all now in a critical period. Even at the cost of losing some sales to conservative anti-gay bigots.

I think we should be very grateful to him for this gesture. I'm not sure what it did for him personally. I really don't think he needed anything, he was content as his was. Rather, I think he did it for fellow LGBT, and we should thank him for that, not second-guess him as being motivated by selfish personal goals.

It's news because he holds the highest position in a Fortune 500 company. No one would care if he was one of the many hourly paid employees.
