Mulignan saidPazzy, you are a fucking warrior. I am starting a blog/movement called honesTruth and maybe you can be one of the voices. I will be the editorial director behind it all though, so i would be, well, editing you. I read your blog and a lot of it was very powerful and raw. I'd love it if we could work together in the futttcha!

    Bahaha!!! A warrior?

Of what? What has he accomplished in life?

I think the tide is changing to where people who aren't fat will be shamed and then likely eaten...

Well, overweight people are more likely to have diabetes. That may lead to other health problems.

    How would you define shallow?

IT is accepted as the gold standard in determining whether ordinary Australians are of a healthy size.

But medical experts say body mass index should be scrapped because it is ``highly flawed and psychologically damaging.''

I think people who base their identity solely on appearance are shallow, but I also think that people who ignore their appearance or bemoan their weight issues without doing anything about it are doing themselves a disservice. I think people are happier when they're making the best of their body, mind and (soul?).

back to the OP's original statements and questions...
I believe that people are visual....seeing an obese person is a visual cue that someone is not in a healthy spot. To constantly berate them and remind them of this problem is not "helping" them, even when being couched in "I am concerned for your health". The fat know they are fat and don't need reminded that they are fat.
I wonder if these same concern tactics are used on the attractive and healthy "appearing", when the friends gather, is there the same level of "concern" expressed for the guy that is smoking, is hungover and drinking heavily again, or the guy that is out Bare-backing his way through the community because he is on "Prep" and falsely "feels safe", from STD's?...It just strikes me that concern for the health of another is only expressed when it is visible and makes someone else uncomfortable. Is it sexy to be morbidly obese?...ABSOLUTELY NOT! Is it unhealthy? YES! If the answer was as simple as "shaming" and "berating" the afflicted, don't you think it would have been cured by now?
Science and Medicine have already accumulated evidence that obesity is much more complex than simply "put the fork down and go for a walk" mentality believes. The wholeness and quality of food has changed as science looks for better yields, more resistant to diseases, wider ranges of environmental endurance, etc, politics of foods, affordability, processing of foods...our own genetics, habits, ...and so much more. Being fat is not what it appears, it just happens to be easy to see and attack.
Attack your smoking, alcoholic, whore types in a public setting and the attackers would themselves be judged harshly...there is a real bias. I found it strange that when I went for medical help to lose weight, I was met with an even more vocal amount of attacks. So....ignore the others, and listen to your body and your inner voice....follow your heart. The journey is not a straight line and nobody can do it for you.
