So I like working out and I try to go as much as possible. I have a 24hr gym and the mornings work best for me. So I pose this to the other morning gym guys, and everyone.
I can't drag my sorry ass out of bed. I want to go but it's not happening. Any advice on how I need to either sleep differently or eat differntly to get the energy up so I go. Now i'm pissed at myself for not going which puts me in a bad mood.:evil

I used to work on a commuter train here in the Vancouver region. I had to get up at 4:30AM, work for 2 hours till we got to Vancouver, then had 9+ hours till kill in town before going home. At this time, because I had to be up and not working at 6:30AM, I loved going to work out then.

A few years after that job, I started having trouble getting up that early to work out. After struggling with it and the motivation thing for a year or two, I came to realize that working out early in the morning just isn't for me. It's better for me to go during the day if I can, and if I can't, go late at night. Much easier for me to go then (as long as I can avoid sitting on the couch when I get home and watching TV).

You just have to do it. Personally, I am not a morning person. I know I won't go early in the morning, so I have to adjust that and go at night if I can't do it during the day.

Maybe you can get an alarm that goes off and plays some really good music that gets you pumped? Find a workout partner to go at the same time with?

Or construct an elaborate sort of pulley-gear timing system and suspend a bucket of water above your bed with a device on the main floor that will pour the bucket on you unless you make it downstairs in time to turn it off in the morning. You'd never sleep in again. Your stress levels may go up though...

Get a home gym. Then you don't have to go anywhere. NO EXCUSES.

Here's my reason for getting up at ungodly hours to work out. It will seem selfish, but who else is going to take care of you, but you. I hope that it helps you, too.

You should always give yourself a gift every day, no matter what. For me, that gift is a good work out. Since I spend my day "serving" so many people, I've recognized that I perform better after I've treated myself to a gift first. Now that I took care of "me", I feel better about taking care of everyone else.

You might not be a morning person so change the time you go. I also think it helps to have some sort of goal, even if it is something small like increasing your lifting weight a little.
