GOOGLE-able??? RJ Privacy issue...

  Something was brought to my attention last night. A buddy of mine was online and google'd my screen name for shits and giggles. Lo and behold my profile on Real Jock, as well as links to posts I've made/participated in, and people quoting me on RJ on other sites all came up!
  
  I have the same screen name elsewhere but none of those populated. Not that I have anything really incriminating on this site but I do find it slightly alarming that anyone outside the community can find you within what I would consider a more private community so easily and readily.
  
  You guys may want to try it for yourself and see. And if you have any sensitive info that you may not necessarily want to go public with.... BEWARE!!!

  I think it's safe to assume that anything you put on the internet can be found. So exercise some discretion and think twice about the content you put out there.
  
  Also, there's an option to make your profile visible only to RJ members that are logged in. I'm not sure if the RJ admins allow the forums to be indexed by google though.

  The same happened to me, which is why I now have my screen name changed and my profiled revamped. An irritating guy that followed me and friends at a bar Googled my real name with "/Ace of Base Fan" next to it and he found all my postings here and on other sites.... He must have easedropped in on our coversation the whole time.

  Yeah, I've seen this type of stuff before from other sites. The only time I use this name is on this site and one other.
  
  I was at a party and someone told me they saw a personal ad I had and did a google search on my screen name. Every time he responded to my ad I didn't respond back. Apparently a blog I started a while before that and had abandoned came up. I told him it wasn't from me. I went home and deleted it. I hate that stalker shit.

  Wow, I did not know this! I thought items that were posted within the web sites were private from the web crawlers. I found my postings on google. Found other things associated with it too. I know to be careful on the web but this shocked me. Of course I entered a couple other screen names of guys I know and was a bit suprised at what I found including a YouTube video!!

  You can read the forums and look at profiles without having to sign up, so it's no surprise that RJ profiles and threads are google-able.
