Real Football Network picks New England Patriots over Houston Texans

Divisional Round: Houston at New England

January 11, 2017 by Pat Kirwan, Jim Miller, Greg Robinson

The top-seeded Patriots are a 16-point favorite in Saturday night’s prime time matchup in the AFC Divisional Round.

On New England’s side is, well, everything. They have MVP candidate Tom Brady at QB. They have the NFL’s rushing TD leader in LeGarrette Blount. They have a rejuvenated offensive line under coach Dante Scarnecchia, and they have the #1 scoring defense in the NFL. Any questions?

We just don’t see any scenario where Texans QB Brock Osweiler has any impact against the Patriots defense. This is a team that lost 27-0 to the Jacoby Brissett version of the Patriots earlier this year. Osweiler didn’t look good in that game, and he didn’t look particularly good against the Raiders last week. We DO like DC Romeo Crennel and his defense, but while they might keep the Texans in this one for a time, they will ultimately wear down against Brady and his wide-ranging arsenal of weapons.
