Here we go again.... Soon, air will be the only thing left to ingest that isn't bad for you. That is -until some organization/person comes out with a paper...

This article affirms what I've read for years: that coconut oil is heavy in saturated fat, something I've gotta watch carefully for my circulatory system.

What I didn't know is the different ways coconut oil is processed, and that there's a virgin, like olive oil has. The heavily processed coconut oil is the most unhealthy, losing much of its antioxidant properties, and increasing the saturated fat. But the virgin coconut oil is still rich is fat. I see no reason to include it in my diet.

The air is very toxic for those sitting on a freeway car park, day after day.

This Professor Called Coconut Oil 'Pure Poison.' Is She Right?

"As it turns out, Michels' assessment of coconut oil is a lot closer to what the scientific evidence has to say about the fat than what acolytes claim — though "poison" may be a bit of stretch. Coconut oil is rich in saturated fats, which puts it on the American Heart Association's (AHA) list of foods that are better to avoid. While the occasional splashy study argues that saturated fat is actually healthy, the preponderance of evidence supports the same old conclusion: Saturated fat, and coconut oil by extension, just isn't that good for you."

Coconut oil may be good for topical skin applications, or in hair shampoo or conditioner. But ingesting? Maybe not so good.

Sorry to hear this. I've always loved coconut. I'll probably have to give up my Almond Joy candy-bars. But I'll continue having my coconut-custard pie, coconut-kreme pie, and coconut macaroons. But everything in moderation.

I remember years ago how they said butter was unhealthy because of all the saturated fat, and how much healthier margarine was supposed to be. I stuck with butter. Now they're saying that margarine is just as bad, because even though it's unsaturated, it's hydrogenated.

I love Mounds, the same coconut candy bar without the nut. (“Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don‘t.”) I can’t believe an occasional indulgence (I haven’t had a Mounds in about 6 or more months), will kill you. It’s regular, continued risky eating habits that can harm you.

    MCT Oil

I was just reading a little about MCT oil, which comes from coconut oil. The recommended dose of 1 teaspoon a day. It can be put into foods (not for frying). It is supposed to help people lose weight in small amounts.
