I AM THROUGH WITH POLITICAL DISCUSSION

My New Years resolution for 2019 is that I am avoiding the news and politics forums entirely because of the dissention among members on this site. Like the rest of American society, there is deep division among us in regards to both sociopolitical and socioeconomic viewpoints. The dissention on here has hurt the integrity of Realjock being a gay mens athletic and sports site almost entirely due to politics. I feel that my time on here will be much more pleasant if I just avoid the news and politics forums entirely. Everyone knows that I have rejoined the Democratic Party as a voter but that I am still a swing voter with an independent streak. As of 01/01/2019, I will no longer be commenting on any political topics. I will however communicate my political opinions privately to any members on my buddy list.

Gosh...How could the News & Politics forum ever survive without your unhinged angry rants. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I don't take any of these forums all that seriously --- this is, after all, nothing but amusement and entertainment though, admittedly, some of the posters have some interesting, good-intentioned, and thought-provoking posts that they contribute -- and I appreciate those people.

In my opinion, the people who are ruining this once great website Real Jock are posters like that lunatic "Outdoorsmuscleguy" person. I mean, C'MON, RealJock site owners, surely you can see that his overwrought meme-obnoxious hateful posts that pollute nearly every News & Politics thread is just making for an unpleasant experience for most. Frankly, it should not be allowed in such excess, but it's not my site so do what you want. The fact of the matter is, RealJock is a sad shell of the vibrant site this was a decade ago. The forums are like a ghost town. People simply don't want to participate because there is a handful of hateful, consistently negative bully posters who seem to think their opinion is the only one that is right or that matters. I'm all for FREE-SPEECH, but that should not be taken to such an extreme that it makes for an unpleasant experience for everybody else.

Amazing how his posts turned to "unhinged angry rants" only when he discovered the truth about the "unhinged angry rants" of Trump. When he railed against Hillary during the election, and was a solid Trump supporter, you welcomed his comments, and sang the same tune right along with him.

A bit of exposed political bias on your own part, perhaps, in defiance of logic, facts & truth? I should think it's your own absence from political-related forums that wouldn't be missed, and indeed welcomed. Except among the small number of like-minded trolls we have here.

Good for you...yea, RealJock has lost a lot over the years....it's less about "gay men's athletics and sports", as you said, and more about stupid polemic politics. It has also become the personal blog site for a few of its users. By commandeering the site and incessantly posting news stories "they" find interesting (which anyone can find on aol or google news), the site is further polluted by redirecting its purpose from athletics and sports to something else.

I've actually done a couple of the posted workouts on RealJock....they are pretty good and I learned a lot from them, especially the 12-week strength training. I'd like to see more conversation about workouts and the vast array of sports and athletics....but, I guess I'll be disappointed with the same old "crap". Ha ha!

    Happy 2019!

A little judicious blocking improves the site a lot. After blocking five individuals, including the one named above, the forums have become a lot more tolerable. Visible political opinions, although opposed to mine, now seem to be somewhat sane.

I also blocked the outdoormucusguy, plus a couple of others just about as bad. That helped, but what helped even more is just not participating. I read from time to time, but don't much comment on political topics.

I wish any discussion of politics would simply be banned. It just invites too much hateful rhetoric.

I find it interesting -- when it's civil -- and often-times thought-provoking and enjoyable. It's only the few who are just clearly not dealing with a full deck who are disruptive. I get it that not everyone agrees with MY opinion --- Hey, that's what makes the world go 'round --- but I'd like to think that (most of the time) I present that opinion in a respectful and well-thought out manner.

I don't recall RoadRageBob EVER being a "solid Trump Supporter" but I do recall his unhinged posts calling Hillary Clinton a "whore" among other things -- and I didn't really find that appropriate either

Speak for yourself, Art, I have enough supporters here...I get my share of emails. Besides, you know you'd miss me icon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

I think that would be a very good idea.

This site appears to be a personal blog for some. And others, who might actually be paid by the site, post anti President Trump topics all the time.

Even on Christmas and New Year's day.

These poor empty souls need to find something productive to do.

    Perhaps engaging in charitable endeavors.

I have a BETTER idea...if the Political forums upset you, DON'T GO IN THEM. Better yet, simply BLOCK the posters that get under your skin and watch the forums instantly become easier to digest.

Baby boomers are the most angry...saving their pennies to finally slide their FAT ASS into that boomer retirement dream car....a POS Lexus.

But they turn on FOX News and get horrified. Nancy Pelosi wants to raise taxes for AIDS research and sex change surgeries for illegals. No Lexus for them! Full of rage, they log onto RealJock, while farting into their ratty old bargalounger.

Exactly. While I don't always agree with CuriousJock about politics, I do agree that he is civil in his posts.
The News & Politics forum was created to get those discussions out of the gay related forums.

That said, I also don't get those posters who spam topic after topic, often just a link to another site, with no commentary or discussion.
Rarely even returning to those threads if others do post to them.
I suspect they would do more were it their "personal blog".

Maybe limit people to 3 posts a day?
