Today he tells me he needs brandy for brandied apples. OK, what are those?

So we went to a liquor store. I dunno anything about brandy. I went through the shelves, and I said “Here’s a bunch in flavors.” That I named, and came to apple. He said get that, he’s using it with apples.

He sliced apples, soaked them in lemon juice, then sautéed them in unsalted butter & cinnamon. Then he added the apple brandy. Next he sautés pork chops, also in butter & brandy, and tops them with the apples.

I already sampled the apples alone, beyond belief. The pork chops are for friends as gifts, but I think we’ll eat some, too. If you do love incredible food, do get yourself an Italian guy, or maybe a Frenchman. OMFG!

Disgusting - but one can eat anything in moderation.

True, and I seldom eat his creations, they’re mostly for friends.

He bitches about my not having enough of his cooking, but I just sample. If I did eat all he makes I’d be just like that GIF.

Instead, he makes food to give to others, that was originally my suggestion, since I couldn’t possibly eat all this stuff he makes. Giving food away at rather a great expense to us. I tell him we’re becoming the Wilton Manors Food Pantry.

But cooking is his passion, his hobby, so I’m happy to indulge him. And it does win us friends. If you can’t attract people with your natural charms, then bribe them with food. LOL!

When a person is only 5'7", yet weigh close to 200lb and has a 40+ sized waist it's clear this person has no concept of moderation.

My butt, you've simply no idea what one looks like, albeit I did lose some wait I put on during a long illness. But I still never looked like fart or his boyfriend.
But your comment is better suited for Bob and his boyfriend. Must make sex an impossible achievement for them.

Look who must be doing a Hillary, since he has no idea what one looks like, and I've never looked like fart or his boyfriend.

That's good advice to our Fart, with all those extra stones he carries around, and who's also RJ's very own self elected Nutty Professor; being an expert on everything, and master of nothing.

He's not having a good day today. He got completely humiliated in the Gros Morne National Park topic in the Travel forum. And also in the Travel forum, in the A380 airplane topic, everything he wrote was demonstrated as being wrong by someone who is clearly in the airline industry.

Why do people who know nothing about a subject claim to be experts?

Not sure he has the ability to stand corrected, or even concede to himself, his wrong.
    Narcissism can be very blinding.

Yes, I remember the English movies where they'd offer someone a brandy to warm them up. Sherry is another form of brandy. I've never in my life tasted it, but it always used to crack me up watching Bonanza years ago, when Ben Cartwright would offer a glass of sherry to his guests. I think he was trying to show off how cultured and refined he was.

More recently it’s been claimed that drinking alcohol when one is cold is actually bad. You FEEL warmer because the blood vessels dilate and the warm blood flows to your skin. But unless you’re in a warm environment, it soon only makes you colder due to the faster heat loss.

The image of the St. Bernard with the little brandy keg around his neck to rescue freezing skiers is NOT a good practice in reality. A strong dog plowing his way through the snow to find the skier by scent & sound, minus the brandy, is a better idea.

My Father loved brandy & cognac, although he never drank it at home. One time he took me with him to his doctor. We each had our own, and Dad’s had a private practice in a lovely colonial era home. I was waiting in the consulting room, while he and his doctor went down the hall for an examination.

It was taking a long time, so I went down the hall to see what the delay was. I came to the small pharmacy room. In the 1950s some doctors had them, as well as wrote prescriptions to pharmacies.

And there was Dad and his doctor, sipping brandy shots. Startled, my Father said: “This is medicine, Robert. Brandy is good for my heart.” I guess for the Doc’s, too. And I didn’t buy it much even then, less today. Even as a kid I knew what they were up to, the 2 of them too guilty looking.

Back then brandy wasn’t just for warmth, but supposed to help your heart, too. I’m not sure the latter was any truer than the warmth belief.
