    Episode 1
    Genevieve Gorder, Host
Whitney Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor / Guest Judge
Martyn Lawrence Bullard / Guest Judge

Inspiration House Palm Springs - Hollywood Regency Style
Martyn Lawrence Bullard's Designs; his house is the inspiration house
    Love the arches
I love the dark purple paisley on dark purple wallpaper
    I love the tapestry
I love the large B&W photographs

Angela (homeowner) looks nice in her velvet deep red jumpsuit

Interior Designer: Ryan, LA, age 26 (Persian Jewish)
Brian and Jamie (homeowners) gay couple with a child
    converting fireplace to gas
mica wallpaper that is not reflective on the vaulted ceiling
(the guest designer said to put it only on the tray of the ceiling and not the sides would have worked better)
    bookshelf
Bar behind an arch and the wallpaper is awesome [but it needed a light]
    Light fixture is nice

    Interior Designer: Caitlin
Ramiro and Angela (homeowners) interracial couple
    sisal carpet
    bookmatching marble fireplace (glamour)
high-gloss black laquer above the fireplace, behind the television, but she had to go with a matte finish which won less points
    Green ceiling

I give Caitlin 4.0 / 5.0 (that empty wall is a problem and the miss on the lacquered wall)
    I give Ryan 4.1 / 5.0

    but Caitlin won.

Lacquered finishes reflect any light like crazy and this drives some people mad, especially in rooms with large windows. Prepare to be, quite literally, dazzled by flashes of bouncing light.

I love the natural light and sophisticated beauty!

That looks like a high floor condo. It is not likely a rental. When I lived in NYC, we were allowed to customize our rentals, not so much here in North Texas, not to that extent. Maybe behind the person taking the picture is a window with an air conditioner in it. That is easily a $10,000 room, minimum. I just noticed the sconces on either side of the curtains. That is nice. I want that room very much. I would have to get out of a 1 BR rental in Collin County (maybe the room could be done in Dallas). I like high-rise living more than separated house living. So, I would say I am about $70,000 away from making that a reality for me. That is one way to make my wish list realistic.

    Episode 2
    Genevieve Gorder, Host and Judge
Whitney Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor / Guest Judge
Jeff Andrews / Guest Judge, owner and curator of the Inspiration Home
Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory), actress/producer / Guest Judge, one of Jeff's clients

Inspiration House (location not given) - Contemporary Style
Martyn Lawrence Bullard's Designs; his house is the inspiration house
    I liked the tan wall
I liked one of the fireplaces

Interior Designer: Jason, age 34, L.A., gay and Asian
Jeff and Erica (homeowners) ; had a home-birth
    Bedroom with French Doors
From carpet to hardwood floor with rug
contemporary 4 post bed; the new wallpaper behind the bed is really nice

    Interior Designer: Britany, Scottsdale AZ
    Rashidi and Sunny (homeowners);
Bedroom w/ seating area and wall television
also doing the hallway to the bedroom (adding a large mirror) with a make-up vanity
Got rid of an interior window.
    Adding a ceiling treatment
The wallpaper is CALLING for metal. So, contemporary sconces which have metal to pickup the brass color in the wallpaper.

Judges on Jason: soothing, love the new entrance, well-appointed but slightly over-accessorized, the bed is great, the wall color is great
Judges on Britany: vibe is chic, love the color scheme, but the vestibule is throw-away and disconnected from the bedroom, the credenza underneath the television was too low

    I give Jason 4.4 / 5.0
The french doors were transformational. The black, spikey sea urchin looking thing was looked great.

    I give Britany 4.3 / 5.0 (I prefer Britany's bedroom) but I agree, the vestibule was a little lackluster.
The vestibule did not lead into the bedroom and there was no natural light (and the mirror needed the natural light).

I preferred Britany's bedroom but Jason won because he won more designer points; for example, his vestibule to the bedroom was better than Britany's veitbule.

    Episode 3
    Genevieve Gorder, Host and Judge
Whitney Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor / Guest Judge
Jamie Bush / Guest Judge, architect and designer of the Inspiration Home

Inspiration House (location not given) - Modern Design Style
Martyn Lawrence Bullard's Designs; his house is the inspiration house

Modern is simple. (solid piece against another solid piece)

I love the entrance to the house
Helen told Patrick, I think we're going to move in. Patrick said, yea (that's not going to happen).
    The fireplace is stunning.
The bedroom fireplace is very nice also.
That free-standing plump chair is wow, amazing.

    Interior Designer: Mat, L.A.
    Patrick and Helen (homeowners)
    Living Room and Dining Room

Interior Designer: Megan, New York City
Jason and Denise (homeowners); children are 3 and 1 years of age
    Living Room and Dining Room
Existing living room is a muddy palette
Got laminate floors because could not afford hardwood
About the electrical for the lighting
Megan: I don't want to worry you about it--
    Denise: Too late.

Judges on Mat: repeating the round elements, floor plan is the same, he just bought furniture, do it yourself paint job loses points
I think the fireplace and wall is too dark (the judges thought so, too)

Judges on Megan: really fresh, the two rooms are unbalanced, the wallpaper should have continued one panel further. It felt like you ran out of money. A since of playfulness. The light fixtures are very nice. Large elements in small spaces are good. The door better have a stop because I see the brass door knob hitting the large round mirror.

Whitney: Tin man suit? That's Versace.

    I give Mat 3.0 / 5.0

    I give Megan 4.0 / 5.0 (Megan did win.)

    Episode 4
    Genevieve Gorder, Host and Judge
Whitney Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor / Guest Judge
Jonathan Adler (built a design empire) / Guest Judge,

Inspiration House (location not given) - Transitional Design Style
Alex vs Sybille (2 Designers, 2 Rooms)

Transitional is a pairing of Traditional and Modern

Interior Designer: Alex from Miami but also works in L.A., from Cuba (he's gay)
Dining room with large gold framed mirror. 2-ft high gold finger on dining room table as centerpiece. That's effing weird.

Chris and Lindy (homeowners) expecting a second child
I like the outside of their home: white picket fence, no front yard, stone work porch with green metal patio couch, front door has long rectangular windows, The step up to the door is framed by two waist high stone columns topped with glass squares topped by cement.

The interior designer thinks it's a little too junky and he doesn't like the ceiling fans.

He will add a Sputnik chandelier. Taking down the brick wall. He's taking down the ceiling fans but the client is concerned about air circulation.

    Interior Designer: Sybille from Switzerland
(homeowners); gay couple: Derek & Brian
I like the homeowners house: 2-stories, fountain in front between two trees almost one story high, a very light peach color, double arched living room windows, arch to the front door.

The interior designer thinks: beautiful architecture but design is OMG.

Derek likes whimsical: a rhino piece, dear head with antlers over the fireplace
    Brian is fickle

The living room is a bit rich masculine with brown leather pieces. It's rather blah. Homeowners say they are bad gays due to their lack of design sense.

The interior designer will add an arch built in bookshelf. She changed the hearth in front of the fireplace.

    = = =

About the Inspiration House (Transitional Design):
I like the light blue sofa and the pair of lamps.
    The bar stools look cool.
How the firewood is stacked is cool.
The turquoise color in the color palette was nice.
I saw a small night stand lamp (blue vase, black shade)
The view over the infinity pool was AMAZING.

    = = =

Judges on Sybille: don't put the Open sign artwork in the corner. Did not like the dear/stag head.

Judges on Alex: did not like the curtains. Liked that the rafters were painted black against the white ceiling.

    I give Sybille 4.7 / 5.0

    I give Alex 4.8 / 5.0 (Alex won.)

Whitney Robinson, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor / Guest Judge
    Jason Wu / Guest Judge,

    Mid-Century Modern Design Style
    1930's - 1960's
Dorri's apartment was mid-century modern. Hi Dorri.

About the Inspiration House (Mid-Century Modern Design):
    I'm not inspired.

    = = =

Megan vs Stephanie (2 Designers, 2 Rooms)

    Interior Designer: Stephanie from L.A.
    Doesn't do trends.

Daniel and Jessica (homeowners) have a cute effing dog

The interior designer will open a wall. Vintage shopping for a table; painting. I may have to bake cookies and show boobs to return the table we bought to get the right table; added a nice Mid-century Modern chandelier, add to Mid-century modern chairs and reupholstered them with a botanical print.

Interior Designer: Megan from Brooklyn, has a 1 year old

(homeowners); Brendan and Anne; has a 3 year old

The interior designer will redesign the fireplace, add two windows, new sofa, from vinyl floor to concrete floor, a hanging chair; staining concrete floor bluish-gray, put up a wide Mid-century Modern light fixture (fascinator chandelier)--the small pipe on the chandelier matches the small cable that holds up the swinging chair

    = = =
Judges on Megan: Roman window treatments did not work

Judges on Stephanie: love the wallpaper. The dining room table is era-specific.

    I give Megan 4.0 / 5.0

    I give Stephanie 4.1 / 5.0 (but Megan won.)

    California Modern Design Style

About the Inspiration House (California Modern Design):
Beautiful, marble fireplace with interesting coal instead of logs--they look like large coal, stone eggs or something
    Succulent potted plants
    = = =

Nick vs Amanza (2 Designers, 2 Rooms)

    Interior Designer: Amanza from Indiana
    Doesn't do trends.

Jonny and Jacqui (homeowners) have a son named Atlas and a dog

a doggy nook under the stairs; add an electric fireplace under the television; pull out this section of the wall by eight inches
There is a trellis that keeps baby and dog from falling out of the stairs.

framed the fireplace to keep the television from overpowering it in size. I like the gold and black artwork to the right side of the fireplace and television pullout.

a painting of Atlas was made

    Interior Designer: Nick, New York

(homeowners); interracial couple (White husband John and Black wife Max [Maxine?])

Walnut panel wall over a wall painted black. $1,090 white sofa against the walnut panel wall. A wave chaise lounge. Two Wassely chairs.

Paint a thin black racing stripe around the ceiling. He's also using succulents, but on the coffee table
