Eat Less! Still A Valid Way To Lose Weight

My husband had all of his teeth extracted, except 5 in front. It was 10 weeks of healing before he got his new teeth. Which are doing great, BTW, he’s back to eating what he wants.

But for those 10 weeks he had to eat a soft diet. Not bad stuff, I made sure of that, but not much of what he’d eaten before.

He lost 35 pounds! And he was no more physically active than ever. And after 2 weeks with the new teeth he still lost 4 pounds! He’s simply gotten out of the habit of having big meals, at least 3 times a day. I hope it stays that way.

Like me, he’s beyond age & ability to lose weight through more exercise alone. Diet is all we’ve got left. But it worked for him. Big time.

I think it was mostly carbs, and his Italian love for bread and pasta. In large portions. In a restaurant he’d eat all his bread, mine, the bread of our friends if they let him, and then order more. Cutting the carbs, and most pasta, may have been the trick for his metabolism.

Point is, I think diet has a big part to play in weight reduction. Bad eating habits, and portion control, are important factors. As well as exercise, if you can do it.

    Ya "think?"

How unfortunate it took losing nearly all of one's teeth to finally embrace the common sense that anyone with half a brain already knows.

Then no wonder Donald Trump doesn’t have your common sense about weight loss himself. You might text him to walk him through the principles of slimming down, since he’s unlikely to grow any more of his own half a brain.

In my husband’s case he has culture & family upbringing working against him. He knows the weight-loss formula, but following it is something else again.

And like many people he blindly convinces himself that he IS eating less and more wisely, when the opposite is true. It took being physically unable to eat that may have finally shown him how little he really needs, and how little he misses it, once his constant, insatiable hunger & habit were broken long enough.

Losing so much weight so suddenly & dramatically was a wonderful demonstration of what he can accomplish, that I hope will continue to motivate him on his own. Getting loads of compliments from his friends for his obvious weight drop doesn’t hurt, either. Along with praise for his new smile, in addition to losing the constant pain in his mouth. He got a multiple win for this ordeal, and he deserves it.

Geez, the moment I saw you made your diatribe about Trump I stopped reading. TL;DR.

    You are pathetic.

Agreed how eating less is the most obvious method, but it can be challenging when you get a craving out of nowhere, where "I want something, but what?". The eldest method I've used in my teen years was a time trick, I call it "no solids after six"pm and have water if I get hungry late at night. The human body requires water to function right, and alot of us tend to forget the idea of 6 to 8 glasses a day, so this would be a good comeback incase I forget in the daytime/during work hours.

Btw, could there be a few topics that DON'T involve politics for once? I swear the very words "trump" or "trans" seem to start fights, and I'm getting tired of it.

Just watch, someone like Jockjoy or CruiousJockAz is gonna start trolling off topic and cause yet another fight for no apparent reason. This forum is for weight loss, not mud slinging!

OK, I may not like all his politics but I do not think he is on steroids. We kind of need to stop making those assertions. He looks nice and proportionate to me.

As for eating less working for weight loss, of course, it does, but that is not exactly healthy. You still need nutrient.

I know some say to not do this, but it works for me so it might work for him: Get a bathroom scale and tell him to weigh first thing in the morning naked after peeing but before drinking or eating anything. That's called dry weight and is the only reliable reference to whether you're up or down a pound or two. I find if the weight is down where I want it, it is motivational to eat healthy to keep it that way. If it is up a pound or two, I'm motivated because the goal is small and easy to achieve. Since he lost all that weight the hard way, see if this works to stabilize it. I bet it will help.

Roadrageblob is an admitted bullshitter. He was going around the threads not too long ago repetitively spreading the lie that I somehow unlocked my private photos for him as some way of proving I had a small dick. When it comes to me he loves to disparage me by spreading lies. For one, I don't have private photos of my dick on realjock. My only private photo at the time (which is now my last public photo) was a close up mugshot. And secondly, I would never show RagingBlobby - RJ's top socialist loser loon, photos of my junk. Not in a million years. He's utterly disgusting - inside and out.

This is completely true, I lost almost 40 pounds over the course of 6 months purely from keeping track of my meal plan. I'd add that exercise also allows you to eat more (as long as it's cardio) which greatly helped me on particularly hungry days.
