The backhand about which I dream.
In my view, we've had two good days of matches on the men's side at the Open.
Two of my favorite pros -- Stan
the Man Wawrinka
and Diego Schwartzman
-- pulled off what are arguably upsets, over Djokovic and Zverev respectively.Stan
has overcome challenges, including two knee surgeries. He has turned his serve into a weapon almost on a par with his backhand.
Djokovic has brought a lot of skill, class, and humor to pro tennis. I remember when he first started to win matches. We wish him well with his shoulder problem.
As the above photo indicates, Diego
is one of the shorter players. He must work harder to overcome the height disadvantage. He also exemplifies Jewish exceptionalism. Plus, he's easy on the eyes.
Looking at the bigger picture, while many of us are enjoying the U.S. Open, our thoughts and prayers are with victims of Hurricane Dorian.
