True or False? Andy Roddick played in the 2019 U.S. Open.

    True.

He played an Exhibition Singles match against James Blake, and won 7-6, 6-4

Daniil Medvedev is called the "new bad boy" of men's pro tennis, and "the man of the summer."
He has soared to the Top Five.
He has racked up $19,000 in fines during the Open.
He has been prominently booed by crowds.
He claims that the boos help him win.
    He is married.
And he is in the Men's Final of the 2019 U.S. Open.
The winner will reportedly receive about $3.8 million, the "Finalist" over $2 million.

He almost pulled it off. One wonders what the result would have been if he had an easier road to the finals, plus fewer leg, shoe, crowd, and other issues.

Always a bit sad when it's over for another year.

One consolation: U.S. Open merchandise (hats, towels, T-shirts, etc.) goes on sale at places like Fromuth.com (starting Oct. 1).

"The total prize money compensation for 2019 is $57,238,700.

$3.8 million is awarded to the men's and women's singles champions." (hat tip: CNN)

    b_USTA1191470_20190908_USO_D14_ML1_0353.

    Parting thought:
Four guys playing doubles at a local club,
    with no prize money,
    no spectators,
and a score that is quickly forgotten,
    in some ways,
    has more merit,
than millions of people in recliners,
paying ESPN or The Tennis Channel to watch the pros play.

    Happy Hitting!

Caused me to think of Andy Roddick- who is of course retired from tennis since 2012.

P.S. What happened to Borna Coric, Croatia, No. 12 seed?
He withdrew "with a low back strain."
