This is a weird one. I was signed up on Realjock, then left, then signed up again, left again — you get the idea icon_cool.gif

During one of these hiatuses I wrote a book titled You Have To Be Gay To Know God (Kwela Books, 2018 ). It was my contribution to the religion v.s gays discussion. It is impossible to exaggerate what is at stake with this discussion in Africa and (because of the discrepancy between the rights we enjoy on paper and the lived reality of many LGBTI persons) South Africa as well. The book is on its second print run, has won one theology-related literacy award and has been shortlisted for another prize.

But South Africa tends to be an insular country (a hangover from apartheid-era censorship and sanctions) so it’s very difficult for me to tell the book’s reach beyond our shores/borders.

Then I remembered that I used to be sort of part of this crazy, beautiful (and sometimes frustrating) online community, and I wanted to check how the regulars were doing and also just to pass this bare-faced market-research question: have you, the person reading this thread, heard of this book title at all?

    Thank you so much.

No, we have not heard of it.
After looking on amazon, it does not have a table of contents or a book description.

I have not heard of this title.

I consider myself to be fairly well informed when it comes to gay literature, but I certainly don't read or hear about every new book that comes out. I notice the goodreads community has a high opinion of the book but the reviews seem to all come from within South Africa.

One tip for posting in the forums: an 8 followed by a ) gets translated as a icon_cool.gif. So, if you want to write (2018 ), simply insert a space between the 8 and the ). Otherwise it will come out (201icon_cool.gif

Although laughable with a giant "LOL", then again, think about this for a moment.....

Jesus' primary followers/disciples were all male (men only), and upon his long journeys throughout the desert, no women anywhere near them..... To sin is part of human nature, so what exactly did a giant group of men do together for a long time, with no women anywhere near them?

    Use your imagination..... icon_razz.gif
