In arguing for the removal of these books from school and library shelves, challengers claimed that schools and libraries should not “put books in a child’s hand that require discussion”

Wow. That just about says it all.

Oh gee, I wonder why that is . . . . . I think age restrictions on books are very much a good idea. We already have a system when it comes to movies, and seeing books were there before movies, why not level it off in all forms of entertainment?

Much like the pride parades, boasting public nudity and sexual behaviour (which does break the law), there are many things in this world that are not exactly "all ages" friendly, and you all know it too, don't deny it.

Think long and hard about it . . . . . many "adult" things we do, do you want to see kids age 10 and under doing it right now?

Fake news. Most "banned" books for children are banned because they haven't been reviewed by a child psychologist which is costly and time consuming.

I though the USA was the country of liberty and freedom? Why would you ban literature?

In the Netherlands only 1 book is banned. Which is Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler.

Books are not banned by the US government; they're banned by local school districts.

Mein Kampf is not banned here, and neither is the Koran (they both have roughly the same message).

Are Nazis still considered a significant threat in the Netherlands?

    Interesting (and bizzare).

The most published book in Germany at one time. Everyone bought it, but no one read it Not exactly the most comprehensible text.

Being of dutch blood and grandparents who just barely escaped his raid, I can tell you many still hold a grudge. Even as a kid, learning what I thought was dutch from Google Translate, my grandmother looked at me angry to say "*smack* never speak german!"..... says alot right there.

Being banned by local school districts makes more sense icon_smile.gif Thank you for your explanation icon_smile.gif

The Nazi movement is still very much alive in lots of countries (including the Netherlands). Though small, they are still out there and being a threat towards jews, black people and gays for example.

I can also confirm that when someone thinks to speak Dutch but actually speaks German will receive a not so friendly reaction. icon_wink.gif

Now that's just funny, just like arguing with trump himself.

    trump: it's Obama's fault!

    Reporter: Can you prove it?

    trump: . . . . . it's hillary's fault!

Reporter: But can you prove it?

    trump: . . . . . it's the WHO's fault!

Reporter: You said just the other week.....

trump: FAKE NEWS! I DIDN'T SAY THAT!

No doubt 'decided' by the folks who are incapable or unwilling to have those discussions.

It's sad when a child's curiosity is squelched by ignorance and bigotry...

Just because Republicans hate gay people does not mean they should be pushing their bigotry on young people.
Get these GOP morons out of office -- vote them out at every level of government.
