A clip from the RJ Food & Recipes thread I made:

A few hours ago I made reservations for our favorite gay Key West guest house for early October. Not sure if the virus will impact that, but we lose no money if the pandemic prevents us from going.

We have our usual duplex suite with full kitchen, with a huge balcony right over Duval Street, the main drag in Old Town. Have invited a third friend to take the upstairs room. He’s checking his schedule.

He’ll have a queen bed (ours is a king, absolutely essential with my bed-hog guy ). Though single, he can bring a pal if he wants, making 4 of us. We all need a getaway, if we can swing this.

And our friend's a great chef in his own right. So I think the suite’s fully-equipped kitchen is gonna see a workout, between him and my guy.

We absolutely refuse to be victims of Trump’s incompetence. We’re gonna do well during this mess he's exacerbated, and come out smiling. I hope you do, too. icon_biggrin.gif

And you’re ever interested in visiting Key West, here’s their link:

You also refuse to be a victim of the Chinese Communist Party’s lies and lack of transparency icon_wink.gif

With China, Russia & Trump, there are plenty of villains to go around. All keen to make us victims of their self-serving agendas.

BTW, the owner of the gay hotel complex where we have October reservations (fingers crossed) said he wants to come up to Wilton Manors this week with his BF and visit with us here, as he has in the past. But lots of rain forecast, and our community still in semi-lockdown but opening a little, kinda think that should be postponed.

I’ve traveled extensively all my life, since I was a little kid, my parents devoted travelers & tourists. I learned at an early age to hate impersonal destinations, where you’re a stranger. Preferring instead more personalized arrangements & accommodations, with people I know, or soon get to know. Key West is one of those for us, and we have others.

That remains my pattern to this day, and it suits my guy, too. I realize circumstances don’t always allow it, but at the same time it’s easier than you think. Be outgoing and friendly, treat people with generous respect, and you can make some remarkable lasting connections. That in some cases even develop into friendships.

I hate a world where everything is cold, impersonal business transactions. And that especially applies to vacation travel.

What does President Trump have to do with this?

As much as the Chinese Communist Party, an element I did not introduce here. You rather lack for the subtitles, I gather.

So posting about President Trump is the only thing you could think of?

It's annoying that no matter what forum and what topic, someone always manages to bring up President Trump.

And what do YOU always manage to bring up? Extreme Right Wing propaganda? That also often includes Trump, reminding us how wonderful and without fault he is. Stuff a sock in it, troll, only your fellow trolls here buy that worn-out horse manure you’re peddling.

But back to travel, we really hope it’ll be OK to keep our October Key West reservations. Staying 9 days. We may extend to an 11th, to include our friend’s birthday on the 10th, whom we hope will be with us. We’ll see what he wants, maybe would prefer to have his birthday back home.

Lotta variables, like weather, but a nice present on his birthday would be a sunset sailing cruise on the Gulf, that he’s never done before. Those can be really memorable.

This one is a duplicate topic too.
