That’s OUR newspaper, the Sun Sentinel, to which we subscribe for home delivery and an online version. Gov. Ron DeSantis is a Trump tool, who doesn’t care what polls show Floridians want. He wants only to please Trump, and it’s killing people. Avoidable deaths, if masks were required to be worn.

DeSantis doesn’t face reelection until 2022. Even with his crutch Trump gone, in a Red state his chances for reelection could be good. Voter memories are short.

To paraphrase a very famous line, from a very famous book… “Let them die, and decrease the surplus red population“…
And why you might ask, should I be so hard on fellow Americans, even though they follow Trump? Because those same fellow Americans would rather see me subjugated to second class citizenry, or even executed as a abhorrent and nonhuman… They’ve made their bed by not choosing to wear masks and social distance, I have no pity for them and would rather see them gone…

It's a safe bet that if you just stay home you will be ok. It's on you.

I do stay home, but I do have to venture out at least once a week on the weekends to do groceries and pay bills… And I want to know that I’m going to be safe for those several hours. Otherwise yes I do stay home. But when things return to some sort of semblance of normalcy after this is been reduced down to an acceptable level to be out again, why do I have to live my life in fear of these people, and why did they have to be in charge of how I live my life? I say be damned to them, and again “let them die and decrease the surplus population…“ I won’t mourn them, and I’ll never think of them again.

You don't know if there would be a single "avoidable death" with a mask mandate (something I doubt you'll ever see in Florida) You're just a sheep to whatever the Fake News tells you. Very sad

DeSantis’ popularity plummets, and Biden opens 13-point Florida lead over Trump, poll finds

A Quinnipiac poll of Florida released Thursday had bad news for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Impeached Piece of Shit Donald Trump, with DeSantis seeing his lowest approval ratings ever and Trump down by double digits to Joe Biden.
Floridians also said the virus was “out of control” in the state. They overwhelmingly backed a statewide mask order and believed the state opened up too early. But they’re not behind a new shutdown just yet.

Overall, DeSantis’ job rating was 41% positive to 52% negative, a massive swing from April when he received a positive 53% to 33% negative job approval rating, which even then was low compared to record-high approval for most state governors at the time.
The numbers are the lowest for DeSantis since taking office in January 2019.

Biden led Trump in the state by a 51% to 38% margin, widening Biden’s close 46% to 42% lead from a Quinnipiac poll in April.

In the poll of 924 registered voters in Florida from July 16 to 20, DeSantis had a negative job approval for his handling of the coronavirus response, with 38% approval and 57% disapproval.
That also marks a big drop from April, when 50% approved and 41% disapproved.
Trump’s handling of the virus also was negative, at just 37% approval to 52% disapproval, down 11 points from April. Overall, Trump had a negative 40% to 58% job approval rating, compared with 45% approval and 51% disapproval in April.

The biggest margin was in favor of masks, with 79% backing mandatory use in public compared with just 20% opposed.
Seventy percent also said the virus is “out of control” in Florida.
Asked about the reopening, 61% think DeSantis reopened the economy “too quickly.” Another 31% think he reopened “at about the right pace” and 6% say he reopened “too slowly.”
But just 49% think the governor should issue a new stay-at-home order for the state, while 48% said they were against the idea.

On school reopening, 62% think it will be unsafe to send students to K-12 schools in the fall, and 57% say it’s unsafe for college students to return to in-person classes.
DeSantis’ desire to reopen schools drew 56% disapproval to 37% approval. Trump’s handling of the reopening of schools got worse marks, at 59% disapproval to 36% approval.

“DeSantis’ commitment to putting students in classrooms in the fall is a non-starter with voters,” Malloy said. “From elementary school kids to collegians, Floridians are saying ‘forget it.’

Lol China got hit first and still has half the number of deaths as Florida, so by any metric they did very well.

Of course that book is “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. The problem with Republicans getting the virus from refusing to wear masks is manifold, however. And only about 1% of them will die, so it does little to reduce their surplus population.

But they do increase the chances that the rest of us will contract it. The more people have it, the more others will get it, despite our individual precautions.

They clog our medical facilities. We can’t have routine procedures done here now, many Florida hospitals are overloaded. And if you do develop a serious condition requiring immediate attention, the hospitals themselves are risky coronavirus hotspots. Plus your care may be compromised by overtaxed staff, and reduced resources.

You’re paying for their defiance of mask and distancing rules out of your own pocket. It’s making the economy suffer longer. Common things you need from the supermarket are in short supply.

And yet Republican lawmakers are still trying to repeal Obamacare, so that even fewer people have medical care. It seems our most dangerous national enemy isn’t any foreign adversary, as much as our own domestic Republican Party is.

Told by a true flamer, the sky is falling fear mongering, self absorbed drama queer. One who didn't give as rats arse about us homos, until they made a lifestyle change, to live as A Gay.
But not only was I born a Bonafide Homosexual, I was born a True Blue Aussie too. So putting my Nation before self, comes naturally to me.
There never was any political brain washing.

    Dearest half brother.
So do you thinks your weak mind, justifies your years of Gay Bashing here at RJ?

That’s because in order to perform a brain washing, the subject first must have a functional brain. You’ve demonstrated for years that you don’t qualify.

BTW, I thought you’ve claimed to also be some kind of American, who knows everything about US history, better than US citizens do, and particularly better than me, a former history professor. Does that conflict with being born a True Blue Aussie?

And in case you haven’t noticed, Australia is having a COVID-19 crisis. No comment on that? Only your US fixation?

Victoria just declared a State of Emergency due to the coronavirus. Any thoughts about your own country?
