The Realjock purge

Who else thinks Realjock needs to clear up really old profiles that haven't been active in years. The guy may have very pretty pictures, but he hasn't logged on since March 12th, 2008 then what is the point?
All these guys being nominated and winning MOTD, but they haven't been around for 10 years to even realise or appreciate it!
    Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Those are good valid points. There are too many inactive, technically abandoned profiles on here. However we also need to purge Realjock of all the troublemakers on here who just love to start shit and harass others. Canadabeef is one now deleted or hidden member that needs to be permanently booted off this site.

One of the most ignorant, nasty, psychotic turd flingers on RJ demonstrates psychological projection.

That's an interesting idea. I just clicked on the "Topics" section to see what was new there but, honestly, it seems like nothing has been updated there in at least a year, maybe a lot longer. I don't think there is really anyone running the site that wants to keep it fresh and updated.

Maybe the advertiser on the site pays more if there are a certain number of members in the membership file, so if they purged the inactive ones, they would probably be left with a few dozen at most, which wouldn't look too good, LOL.

There is probably some advertising rationale to having a lot more "Members" than are actually ever online anymore. Doesn't bother me, since whatever little ad revenue the owner gets, keeps the site alive.

Should you adopt Rip Van Winkle as your screen name?

The trolls, southbeach socks, the obnoxious ultra-right wingers, and the hostile assholes like canadabeef (not sure he was around back then, but others were). Total absence of any civility by many here, like roadbike.

Actually started before the Trump-Hillary contest, back in 2013-2014.

However, fear not, 99% of site members never post in these forums - they are here to cruise whoever is online, and they will continue to do so.

^^ Well, I guess we might see somethings similar, but
I have a different view and I've been here awhile.
Guess what? I really could give a fuck anymore to
even bother typing it out. Short and sweet, I'll keep
    it to myself.

Sounds like you are talking about Art Deco the bisexual.

He just turned a colonoscopy topic in All Things Gay into a rant against President Trump.

And anyone who isn't far left of center he calls "troll" and "Russian" and tells them to STFU.

Sounds like he's a perfect candidate for your purge list.

If I would guess why this site is still being maintained, it's because of accumulated content which generates traffic coming from Google searches, which then generates ad revenue for the site owner. If this is the case, then it makes little difference if there's a lot of inactive profiles because what drives most of the traffic is the old content.

Sad to think it was the good old days that keeps RealJock alive. I had such a great time here 10 years ago when I first became a member.

Rode Bike Robe has become notorious for his rage, thus RRR, angbwanting to pick fights, dependingnon what side he is on, depends on who he'll attack, looking for a blue.

Art Deco isn't just a bisexual, who now lives as a gay. Also has a long history of trolling, and Gay Bashing.
Yet sees himself as a saint. Problem is he can't get his hello up over his horns.

I just checked, and several of the members whom I corresponded with on this forum quite a while ago, but who haven't been active in over 6 years, now seem to have had their profiles fairly recently deleted. This is too bad, because it was nice sometimes to go back to those old threds, and re-read them. I wonder, administrators, would it be possible to restore them ?

Also, before deleting some of the old members who haven't been active in years, wouldn't it be better to send them some sort of invitation to once again become active on the forum if they want to do so ? Some f them were interesting correspondants, and it would be nice to have them back.

As far as Man of the Day goes, I've never paid any attention to that. I'm here for the forums and the profiles. And so for those who are interested in MOTD, I'd have no problem in restricting that to current active members only.

    PS: Admin:
Is there any way to view threds and posts that go back to 10 years or so ago, and which no longer appear on the Recent Forum Posts section of our profiles ?

Only problem is that this website hasn't been updated since 1998. icon_lol.gif

When do you think Realjock will be ready for this incredible jump in technology?!

You joined the same time as me. It really was different back then, wasn't it. I've often wondered why it went so sour. My best recollection is that the Forums weren't being actively monitored at the time and mischievous trolls (some of them fortunately gone but not lamented) inflamed people, driving out exasperated members who weren't here to pick up guys.

It always did have a high school vibe, tbh, though from a social perspective.
