Fox News dominated primetime ratings for COVID summer — not just on cable, but all of TV

Think of this as a proxy for the November election:

Fox News was the most watched channel on all of American TV from Memorial Day to Labor Day, topping all of the major networks, even with their advantage of being in more households, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Fox's primetime lineup — which includes Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham — averaged 3.5 million viewers per night, beating out the return of sports and other big programming on mainstay channels like ABC, CBS, and NBC.

Fox News BURIES Unhinged CNN, MSNBC in August Ratings

If one thing is clear, it's that when faced with a choice for cable news, Americans avoid the hack propaganda on liberal MSNBC and CNN, especially when it comes to 2020 news. As summer began to slowly wind down last month, the Fox News Channel continued its streak of attracting the highest August primetime ratings in the network’s history while surpassing all broadcast and cable news networks in total viewers.

Good to know people outside of RJ are getting into real news, and not fake news, full of alternative facts.

Or maybe the big basket of deplorables are still home watching TV on their new sectionals they bought with their $600 bonuses while those (who could) of us with consciences and for whom character matters were back at work away from the tube.

They lie too. It's just a different spin... a different version of the big lie

Still a good idea to check it out. Once you do, you'll never go back. You won't realize what a bullshit game it all is until you hear the other side of things. Then you can bounce back and forth until you make a little more effort to find the truth.

The only exception to this is Tucker Carlson, who truth bombs nearly every night. And he's a really bad liar. When they've got his balls in a vice... as they do from time to time on a marquee issue, he suddenly becomes flumoxed and unable to read a teleprompter through gritted teeth. Want to see through the veil? Watch him when he's forced to perform like a dog. They know better than to force him too often because it's not a good look.

I blame the foreign-owned Fox News for the decline of this country. It has made America a deplorable place in the world.

I switched to Fox news a few years ago, on a whim, to check out for myself what this so called "propaganda network" was all about.
It wasn't an immediate switch over, by any means. But whenever there was a big breaking story, I'd flip back and forth between the other networks... the so called "legit networks".. which were usually verbatim copies of each other.. and then Fox, which usually approached the story from an entirely different angle that I had not even considered. The natural progression from there is to self curated news from independent journalists. I haven't had cable for about 4 years now and do not miss it at all, except when there's a big story. In that case YouTube will have clips from every network. You can compare them back to back in a fraction of the time it would take to watch entire news programs

It works in reverse too. And it will never be detected if you don't bounce around a bit and pay attention. There are some people with integrity on both sides. Get to know them on both sides and eventually you will see when the leash gets tighter around their necks and they have to say things they object to. And the flip side of that observation is noticing the people who lie with ease. Sometimes there is a tell; an almost imperceptible glimmer of pride in getting away with it.. a hint of contempt for the audience, like it's all a big game... like a sociopath.

These people have had 70+ years to perfect their craft. Watch them perform with a critical eye. It's harder to detect in print because there is no face in front of you. Can you tell when people are lying to you in person? Trust your intuition.

Exactly correct. The idea is to not be so unhinged and biased as to be totally unbelievable. Some truth has to be in the mix sometimes.

A name would have been more useful, but smugness is often hard to resist. I have a fairly good grasp of history; in fact a unique one. I do not have the face of every asshole of the past two centuries ingrained in memory though.

But curious that this same face turns up way down the page on an Amazon search for Bernays. And don't overlook the first results.
"The media is the fourth branch of government in the United States, as well as the most powerful and unaccountable"...
C'mon someone gimme a smirk for misquoting him.
