When I was born Harry Truman was President. I remember Eisenhower being elected. And all the Presidents since.

And there's never been anything like this! People are pouring out onto the streets, to celebrate the end to the worst Presidency in US history.

Trump Trolls here can attempt all kinds of rationalizations, tell us that we aren't witnessing what we are, put a Fox News spin on it. But this is historic, and cannot be excused away.

And other countries are experiencing the same thing! Celebrations in their streets around the world!

The worldwide verdict on Trump is right on our TV screens. Cities in the UK, Germany, France, Europe, South America, internationally, it's totally unprecedented. It's like VE or VJ Day after WWII.

It started right after the news about Biden winning Pennsylvania. I was at our Saturday farmers market in our Buffalo neighborhood and all of a sudden a lot of hollering and cheering started occurring along trendy prosperous Elmwood Avenue. I inquired why there was so much cheering and hollering and I got the news that Pennsylvania officially went to Biden. Around 2 PM I walked from my apartment back to Elmwood Avenue and there were people of all ages lined along the street and there were cars honking and people cheering over the Biden victory. I spent most of my afternoon joining in on the fun cheering for the defeat of the Mango Mussolini icon_smile.gif

While not official in that the results have yet to be declared by the state authorities by their processes, the projections are good news.
We just need to keep fingers crossed that the rest of the electoral college process plays out as it should.
Meanwhile the world has an angry narcissist in a position of power with nothing to lose.....

It needs to be said. As joyful an occasion as this, even with President-Elect Biden having received a plurality with more votes than any candidate in our history, he still came dangerously close to having his presidency taken from him. In all but 1 of the last 8 presidential elections (reelection of W) more Americans have voted for the Democratic candidate yet the will of the People was overruled with the appointment of a minority Republican candidate in 8 of the last 20 years. This is why even with a plurality, the defeated entitlist are looking to see ifthey can overrule the majority once more time. As we celebrate, let us remember that we are only a Democracy when all citizens are freely to vote, those votes counted and the winner is the man or woman with the most votes!

Not sure if you are using word plurality correctly. What significant 3rd party votes came in to make that a plurality? I'd have to look at the numbers again but I think Biden's got the majority popular vote and by a large margin. Also has the electoral college over 270. The only thing Trump's got is his tiny mushroom dick in his tiny hand

    70 million Trump voters.
70 million Americans chose a racist bigot.
    More than 2016
If u embrace a racist, you are a racist.
Hard to feel pure joy over this election result.

And the old guy directly across the river from us took the Trump flag off his boat late yesterday afternoon. Perhaps now folded and placed in mothballs in his hope chest. (I wonder if younger guys know about those?)

Yeah, I'm not aware of any headline proclaiming Trump had won. Republican lawmakers are congratulating Biden on his win, and international leaders. Even Fox News is calling Biden the President-Elect.

So we WILL enjoy our celebrations. While O&F can go nurse his butt-hurt. icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, but also 4 million of 70 is nearly 6%.
    Trump's 2016 win was negative
And I'd have to study prior margins

It's incredible yet disgusting there's that many but if that's the world we live in then it is nothing new--only re-realizing it is "new"--as America's founding fathers must have seen it to, these destructive forces to liberty, setting into motion what they tasked us to maintain: this great system of eternal vigilance. In that there is joy.

    Well I guess u gotta 1/2full cup.
Trump just made it ok to show u hate
    Was always there
Maybe in a different climate the hostility just becomes latent.
Only time can change this- the dying off of more and more bible-belters will help in subsequent generations

Yes and no. Trump's a crass bastid, a pathological liar which is a physical issue in his brain that cannot be corrected, thus the pathology, and a racist which is his decision to be, who tried to normalize in the people around him the hate he engages and the lying he is inclined to. He's high functioning enough to know he can't help but to lie and so he works to get people around him to also lie so that his own lying just blends in. The hate, aside from unresolved personal issues might arise as distraction from or addenda to the pathological lying.

His complicit corrupt GOP was more than happy to accommodate all that, breathing a sign of relief with their hoods off. They have been here all along, this is the evolution of the then-called Southern Democrats who migrated to the Republican Party decades ago. This was nothing new then, nor before that, nor now nor will this be new in the future. But that is the importance of civility, that civilization does not descend into chaos. Trump and his kind are agents not of law and order but of chaos.

The part you said that I'd disagree with is the waiting on the dying part. Always more will be born, hopefully more good than bad to the world. Hopefully one day we can correct pathological lying, certainly we can do more to educate the population to be more critical thinkers, while our poets and musicians continue to inspire love.

Thus the system of eternal vigilance embodied by America and its promise of liberty, this birthplace of constitutional government, gifted us by our founders.

The defeat of a populist authoritarian is always a good day to celebrate.

    Women got the vote
    We elected a black president
    Now a female VP
    Gays marry
But this took biracial marriages, the bold coming out of the closet etc... once u “knew one” it was harder to “Hate one”.

This is the arc bending. Liberals accelerate to expand liberties, Conservatives put on the brakes to catch their breath. Hopefully we don't wind up with whiplash or in a ditch.

I just saw a quick clip on TV of Biden victory street celebrations in major cities around the world. In Paris they actually were ringing the church bells! I don't think that's ever been done before, following a US election.

But delusional Trump continues to think he's the most beloved US president ever. Whereas in reality he's the most universally reviled in world history, dragging the reputation of the entire US down with him. Paris church bells and jubilant crowds worldwide were announcing that will now be turning back around, the US on the road to recovering its international standing.
